Before we get started, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gracelynn Mae Curtis, and I am 23 years old. I, along with my best friends Everleigh and Harper, have made the very adult decision of moving thousands of miles across the country to live in Los Angeles, California together. I am originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, and Everleigh lives about two hours north of me in Buffalo, New York. Harper is the odd one out, and is meeting us in LA after she drives from San Juan, Texas. How are we such close friends when we all live so far apart? That, my friends, is a whole other story that can be saved for another time. For now, let's just move forward, since that's what life is all about, right?
So Everleigh and I hop off the plane at LAX with our dreams and our cardigans, and as we make our way to the baggage claim to grab our luggage, Harper sneaks up behind us and tackles us both in a gigantic hug. We all chatter gleefully about our new life in LA, as we walk to Harper's car. Everleigh and I load our bags into the trunk, and we roll out to our brand new apartment. Thankfully, Everleigh and I had our stuff shipped and it was set to arrive at the apartment later this evening. Harper packed her car full, and when nothing else would fit, she decided to have the rest shipped as well. Since we were always talking, we coordinated the arrival times so that everything should come all at once.
After about an hour and a half of singing LANY at the top of our lungs while stuck in rush hour traffic, we pull into the parking garage designated for our apartment building. The three of us jump out of Harper's Honda Pilot, and Everleigh and I grab our bags. We giggle and chat eagerly about all our plans for our fresh start out in LA as we walk towards the new place. Our chatter sounds more like clucking chickens than actual female humans, and I begin to understand why a group of women was always referred to as hens or something like that.
I'm snapped back to reality as Harper stops in front of apartment 224 and pulls out her keys, "You girls ready to start our lives here," she asks as she begins turning the key.
"I think so," Everleigh says apprehensively.
"Oh my God! Just open the door," I shout, forgetting that we now live in an apartment and actually have neighbors, unlike my house on the East Coast.
"Right, here we go," Harper says as she swings the door open.
