sand castles

I like building sand castles.
With each beat of my heart and breath of my lungs
I sigh your name and hear your voice
It's in my head like a song on repeat
I live for you and you alone
It's a shame you don't think twice
The little words you say pierce holes in my boat
I'm drowning in sorrow with a sunken ship
Alone at sea while you sailed out of sight
I'm forgotten while you sit on dry land not knowing what it's like to be drenched
All I've known is wet clothes
Heavy clothes that pull me deeper into the waves
Crashing against my sensitive skin
Casting harmful ideas against the shores of my thoughts
my mind is a beach that only knows monsoons
Each grain gaining sand piles
I only show the castles I build of wet sand
Sand as wet as my clothes with tears on my cheeks and seaweed in my hair
But I wear it with a smile and you call it a look
I build castles that are weak and frail
Built from bad things
So I make them more enjoyable to look at
And call it art
Every castle falls
but ones of sand never last
especially the ones I build
