Chapter 10 – I guess?

(Alex’s POV)

I woke up earlier than expected today. Early as in very freaking early! It’s still 3:00 am! Shucks.. I tried to force myself to sleep again but I just can’t. So, I unwillingly got out my bed. I was pleased to find that no one-eyed dude slipped in last night. Awww.. Such a shame. If that one-eyed Cyclops was here, I have to do something more enjoyably painful than just a kick.

Feeling miserable as I get a bit cranky whenever I wake up early, I decided to take a morning stroll. I literally dragged the sleeping Grell to come with me. The cat struggled. With a few grunts and ‘meows’ he admitted defeat. Good choice!

Cylops was still sleeping when we passed by his room. Grell and I had the naughtiest idea. Since Cyclops was sleeping like a log, we took the liberty to barge in his room, being very cautious from producing any bit of sound. Using Grell’s powers to create hair accessories, we tied his spiky white hair into different hairstyles. It was fun! Hihihihi. It looks so good on him! He’ll be so surprised when he wakes up and sees his reflection at the mirror. Hahahahahaha!

Snickering as we made our way outside, we both headed to no particular direction. I embraced Grell like a teddy bear since it was so cold. His fluffy cat-hair kept me warm.

Along the way, I told Grell about what happened yesterday. How I passed the exam and how I ate a lot when Cyclops treated me to a restaurant. I left out the part when I met Naruto though. I don’t wanna recall that.

Outside was dark but to my surprise, I had no trouble manoeuvring the road. It was as if I could see very clearly even though it’s dark. Weird.

The whole village was peacefully quiet. But when we passed by the training grounds, it was noisy. A boy was there, practicing ninja-stuff. He got my attention so I stopped walking. With Grell on my lap, I sat at the bottom of a tree nearby. I watched the boy.

So early in the morning and yet he’s now training so vigorously? Such a hard-worker... He didn’t notice us as he kept wrecking trees and stuffs. It was amusing to watch him. Grell and I both enjoyed the atmosphere since we were naturally very talented at wrecking things (A devil and a soon-to-become-one. Hoho).

The moment the boy took notice of us. He stopped training and very boldly ‘death-glared’ at us. An anime question mark appeared at the top of my head. Huh? Huh? Death-Glared? What’s his problem?

He was still glaring at us. Oi. Oi. What’s with him? We weren’t doing anything.

Glaring at us some more... Uhhhh... He won’t stop, will he?

So, I told him with a waving hand, “Continue with your training boy. Don’t glare at us though. We’re not gonna bite ‘ya or anything. We’ll be just watching ‘ya here. Don’t mind us at all.”

The boy glared at us a little bit more and then continued with whatever he was doing. Grell and I let out a sigh. Phew. But oh well, this kid is....... interesting! I met different kinds of people in my line of work and ‘glaring’ seems to be the friendliest gesture we could ever manage towards our co-worker. Hihi. Also, in the mafia world, if you don’t know how to glare, you’ll be considered abnormal. Yep!

Even though he knew he was being watched, the boy didn’t show any ounce of shyness or nervousness. He was training there with full confidence and precision like he wasn’t even a bit bothered by our presence. Hoho. So he’s used to people gathering around him. Quite the attitude, this kid....

I don’t know why but watching him calms me down. I feel at ease.

He trained ‘till sun up. The three of us watched as the sun emerged at the horizon. The warm tingle of the sun’s rays sent comforting chills throughout my body. It felt great. I glanced at the kid and saw that he was somewhat glaring at the sun.
