Alex scooped up items from one of the many moth-bitten cardboard boxes that his mother stated he had in her will. She had died only a week ago but that hardly affected Alex, he didn't expect to have his name in her will anyway. She had left when Alex when he was only 5, Alex only had unpleasant memories of her. She 'saw' things that made her want to hurt burn anything she could get her hands on.

The authorities titled her as a threat to Alex and removed her from his life, although now that she's dead Alex doesn't have to worry about her randomly turning up at his house then attempting to light everything on fire.

Caught up in memory, Alex cut his hand on something within the box which was currently on the floor in front of him. Alex drew his bloody hand from the box to observe it, it was only a small cut, nothing a band-aid can't fix.

Pulling a band-aid from the bag and sticking it to his palm, Alex looks down at the object that sliced his palm. It is an old mirror, after raising it closer to his face to examine it, he discovered the mirror has no reflection. Or rather not his reflection, his Mums. He slowly rotated the mirror and can see a 3D version of his mum's face on the mirror's glass.

Flipping the mirror over, where there is usually a pattern of some sort instead it simply states: Immortal

Alex's Mum was always full of herself but you had to admit the was beautiful with high cheekbones, fair skin and 13 children (each with different fathers). She had loads of weird instruments like that displayed her face so it was nothing much out of the ordinary. Alex placed the mirror down and went back to going through the soggy boxes in his mother's attic.

It was never certain how she died but some say they saw her light her house on fire then walk straight through the front door. The police never found evidence that a single fire was lit in this mansion. Some swore they saw her evaporate into nothingness out the front of her house. The authorities searched the house immediately after her death in case someone murdered her. It was commonly known people held grudges against her.

No-one knows how she really died and Alex didn't think they were going to find out any time soon. She had always kept things to herself which led to many divorces and a depressed soul. With one glance at her, you would have no idea what was going through her mind or that there was anything wrong with her mentally in the first place.

Alex, on the other hand, was the practical type of person, the polar opposite of his mother. He had 8 years of experience in psychology which has to lead a successful occupation as a lawyer. Alex's 28 year old in the present day and currently engaged to the person he would marry in a weeks time.

The attic door started creaking then opened, but only a minuscule amount. Alex was never one of those paranoid-about-ghosts people but this was definitely not the wind. How did he know? The door was locked.

A silvery mist floated around the room, circling him from only around 5 metres away. He couldn't make out a body or face so he went back to unpacking the box.

"Boo." The voice sounded like ice stabbing your throat while nails are being dragged along a chalkboard, all at the same time.

The mist appeared to turn into a solid figure shaped as a human, even if Alex knew the person he wouldn't be able to recognise them as the face as it was masked, hidden. Alex stumbled back towards the outer walls, trying to understand what the hell just happened. Or what in hell just happened.

What came next was a mystery for the thing as well as Alex.

I'm writing this hoping that if it is down on paper it will make sure sense. If you read this, please don't think that I'm insane because this really happened. At the moment I'm hiding in a closet in my Mother's old house, I'm hiding from something so bizarre even I don't believe it's real and I'm the one who saw it. It came into the attic when I was unpacking the boxes like mist then when I turned my head it had solidified. With a crazy Mother like mine I don't get scared easily but just it's mask sent shivers down my spine.

Sometimes I see things normal people don't, I've never told anyone but this time I know that this thing is real. I guess the only thing I should do now is try to either ward it off or kill it. The first preferably but if it has to come to the send then so be it.

Alex - 12.7.18

Little did he know the thing was none other than his Mum, came back to life. Well, not really alive. As some people say a zombie but as others say a ghost. But she was neither at the moment, she was closest to something like Voldemort.

Out of nowhere, she appeared in the same closet as Alex, attempting to grab him. Out of self-defence Alex's arm swung around and grabbed a sharp ended umbrella, it pierced through the chest area of the thing. She merely pulled the pulled the umbrella from her chest and smiled.

"Was that supposed to hurt?" Her tone frigid and heartless.

Alex was frozen, but luckily only figuratively. He snapped out of the trance and ran to the door, swiftly around the thing. Malicious laughing could be heard in the distance. Alex ran up the stairs to the kitchen, the only thing he could think to do was to stab it with flames.

Although his Mum had loved fire, she had also feared it. This might be his ticket out of here, although he didn't know it was his own Mother he was going to stab he knew he was in his Mother's house.

As soon as the thing entered the kitchen Alex commenced his plan to kill it. From behind the door, Alex slammed it into the thing which made it fall back into the stove, while it was still processing what the heck just happened Alex stabbed it with a flaming knife. Although this wasn't one of his best plans he hoped it would work, he only had roughly 30 seconds to plan it anyway.

She chuckled quietly, but somehow kindly.

"I always knew you were gonna be the death of me, my favourite child." Alex saw his Mother's face for a split second as she turned pale then disintegrated onto the kitchen tiles.

This explains everything. He mysterious death, why she always tried to kill him, the mirror. The mirror! Alex sprinted up 3 flights of stairs and through the attic door, he had not noticed it but the sky was nearly cloudless and pale blue outside, a relaxing clear day.

Everything added up now except the mirror, it needed to be destroyed for her existence to vanish completely. With the birds were chirping contently outside Alex was inside smashing a mirror of immortality.

The glass shards slid across the already marked and scratched floorboards leaving black indents, breathing deeply Alex has an accomplished feeling seeping through his veins. Turning his head, his hair swayed a little (it was extremely overgrown), towards the window but only blackness was visible. Pitch black.

All the electricity from inside the house was now on, illuminating the staircase and attic. But it appeared the neighbour's lights were off, actually, it appeared all the lights from down the street were off. It was 8:02 pm so a normal person would be showering or watching TV, as Alex made his way outside his dark eyes swept the street. The only two words that could describe it was eerie and pitch-black.

Hope you enjoyed! I know it wasn't as good as my first and less creepy stories will be coming soon :) Please comment the next genre I should do <3 Also FIFI will be writing one of the upcoming chapters (anime genre)!
