"Dale can you come help me with the collars." You yell over the sound of your dogs barking to go on a walk.

"Kay, one second." Dale jumps off the couch, nearly slipping on the carpet.

Dale had been your best friend since you could remember, the type of guy who always is up for anyone's parties, any time.

"Which way are we going this time?" You ask Dale, every time you take the dogs for a walk you both always like to walk down a different path. Which is kinda metaphoric if you think about it.

"Left." He says after the leads are on the dogs and you're both getting dog slobber all over your faces.

There had been a couple of times that you had gotten lost in the woods since usually you just walk forward until you want to turn around again, but that's when the dogs always find the way back. Speaking of the dogs, the pair of them bounced through the forest like it was where they truly felt at home and to be honest the forest was where you felt at home too.

After a long day at work, you would come home to the forest and take in a deep breath of fresh air, exhaling only when your lungs start to hurt. The feeling of belonging means everything to you, no matter what happens in the outside world the forest will never change. It's the only thing you can depend on. Saints, you can't rely on Dale for much. The dogs stop to roll over in every second clearing they find, dragging you along the leads with them.

"I don't think I've ever told you how much I love doing this. It gives me so much time to think. Possibly too much." Dale chuckles to himself, you laugh slightly too.

"Well, I don't think I've ever told you how much I love that you almost always come out with me." You playfully punch him in the arm and he pretends that his arm is broken.

You two laugh about the most random things for the next half an hour until the sun starts to set and you both decide that you should head home.

Suddenly, Dale's dog starts barking at something in the trees. It's dark out now so it's hard to see but it's usually something like a possum or squirrel that the dogs love to 'play' with.

"Calm down, girl. It's only a squirrel." You try to soothe the dog.

You can visibly see Dale's dog's pupils dilate and foam start frothing from the mouth. The dog looks around as if checking its surroundings when bolts towards the forest where it first barked at. Pulling Dale with it.

"I'll meet you back home-" Dale tries to finish but is whisked away by the now ferrell dog.

You start to panic. What if he didn't make it home? What if there's something wrong with his dog? What was his dog barking at? No. It's ok. He's going to be fine. His dog was probably just chasing after the squirrel and they'll find their way back home for dinner. See? Everything will be ok.
