Chapter 11 - Til the Day I Die

Elijah was getting dressed, putting on his jacket. Klaus walked in, grabbing a book and the brothers looked at each other. Both of them still awkward around each other, just like they have been ever since Elijah got his memories back. They looked at each other for a moment before Klaus left the room.

Freya and Keelin were lying in bed, holding hands.

"I know things will never be the same," Freya said. "Not after so much lost. And I'm so sad about Josh and Ivy and--and everything that Hope and Kenner are going through. But I look at you and I can't help it. I'm happy. Just feel so selfish."

"Josh and Ivy wouldn't think so," Keelin replied.

"Yeah, well, they're not here," Freya told her.

"If they were here, they would tell us not to waste it," Keelin said. "And they'd be right. So, let's do it. Let's get married."

Freya smiled. "Yeah, that's the plan."

"No, like, let's get married today," Keelin told her.

"What?" Freya asked.

"Yeah," Keelin answered.

"Today?" Freya repeated.

Keelin nodded, raising her brows.

They chuckled.

"I--Yeah," Freya agreed.

"Yeah, okay," Keelin said. Freya nodded. "All right."

"Let's--let's do it," Freya replied.

Keelin chuckled. "Yes. Yes, yes, yes." She kissed Freya on the cheek. "It's so crazy." 

Freya chuckled, happily as Keelin kissed her forehead.

Hope and Kenner were in the cemetery visiting the grave of Bill, the man Hope accidentally killed. Hope put a yellow rose into the vase.

Klaus walked closer.

"You didn't have to come," Hope said.

"I wanted to make sure you were both all right," Klaus replied.

"I don't know why we leave flowers," Hope told them, crossing her arms. "Doesn't do them any good. It's not much of an apology for killing someone."

"Unintentionally," Klaus told her. "You rid the city of those vermin. You've nothing to apologize for."

"Don't make it sound so noble," Hope told him, turning around.

"Yeah, yeah, we killed a few bad guys," Kenner added. "But it was as much to get the magic out of us as anything else. Besides, it's not like it lasted more than a few hours."

Klaus looked at Hope and Kenner's arms, seeing the lines had returned.

"Well, at least he gets his revenge next week when the full moon comes," Hope said, looking at Bill's photo.

Klaus walked closer. "Hope, however much you dread your first transformation, once you go through it, you're gonna feel better."

"I don't know if I dread it," Hope admitted. "Or if I wish I could just turn and never turn back. Mom said that after the pain, it's one of the best feelings in the world. I just can't believe I have to do this without her."

Klaus looked away for a moment, holding back his emotions. "I know no one can replace your mum, but I do want to help."

Hope nodded. "I know. But I need to be alone."
