"Follow him!" Josh shouted from his seat. Niall just looked at him. He was in total shock.
"For God's sake Niall!" Louis squealed. "Go get your man!" Niall nodded quickly before darting from the room, leaving the door wide open. He was determined to find the dark-haired boy.
"Do you think it will work out?" Louis asked worriedly, gnawing slightly on his bottom lip. Harry reached out and pulled his lip out from between his teeth.
"I don't know Lou. I hope they do. They've been miserable without each other." Josh looked at them sadly.
"Niall hasn't stopped crying," he spoke softly,
"He won't admit that he loves him though."
"Zayn's the same," a voice spoke up from the door. The class looked towards the door.
"Well he hasn't been crying," Jake looked at the floor as if he was going to say something else. The class looked at him expectantly. Jake just shook his head and sat down. Josh leaned over to speak to him.
"What were you going to say?" he whispered. Jake shook his head before looking at everyone else. Mr. Payne looked at the ground awkwardly. He knew exactly what Jake was talking about. Of course, he was not going to admit it to the boys. They might become suspicious. The class sat in an awkward silence for a while.
"Well I suppose we can carr-," Mr. Payne began, being cut off by the two boys entering, Both with red rimmed eyes and tear tracks on their face. Josh and Justin jumped out of their seats and ran towards their best friend. Dragging him back to his seat, Niall glanced back at Zayn who was standing awkwardly by the door, gripping his wrist tightly. Niall quickly shook his head before being pushed down into his seat.
"Zayn? A word please?" Mr. Payne asked kindly. He knew he shouldn't but he was curious of whether or not Zayn remembered. Zayn gave a short nod and walked out the door, Mr. Payne close behind him.
"Are you alright Zayn?" Mr. Payne asked once the door was closed.
"I'm fine Liam. It's just..." Zayn trailed off looking at Liam instead of the floor.
"You remember me?" Liam asked surprised. Zayn half smiled. "How could I forget?" Zayn rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, avoiding Liam's curious eyes.
"But I'm upset you never contacted me when you got this job." He said, glancing up to see his teacher's reaction. Liam just smiled sadly.
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. I wanted to surprise you... I also have some news?" Zayn gave him the look that meant "well spill already". The look that Liam was all too familiar with.
"I've met someone. And we might be kinda engaged" Zayn grinned.
"Who's the lucky guy Mr. Payne?" Zayn teased.
"Girl actually," Liam replied.
"Ohh one team not good enough for you? Well tell me her name!" Zayn smirked standing up straight, his confidence returning as he talked to his old friend.
"Sophia," Liam said quickly blushing and adverting his gaze to the wall beside him.
"Sophia Smith? As in 6 months older than you Sophia Smith?" Zayn asked. Liam nodded his head. Zayn let out a whoop of laughter and hit his old friend on the shoulder.
"Good for you man! Didn't know you had the guts to ask her out! Let alone propose to her!" Zayn teased.
"Shut up and get back inside!" Liam demanded pushing Zayn back in the door as Zayn kept laughing. Before he could enter fully Liam grabbed his arm.
"Did you tell Niall about..?" Liam whispered, nodding his head towards Zayn's wrists. Zayn nodded.
"Yeah I did, he deserved to know." Then Zayn shook his head and talked louder.
"Still can't believe you did it man! Good for you! I'm proud of you!" Zayn spoke loudly enough for the class to hear.
"Shut up," Liam said pushing Zayn back towards his seat as the class stared at the two confused. "Actually, sir," Zayn started, but emphasis on the 'sir' causing Liam to make a face at him which made him laugh.
"I'd like to sing another song." Liam was in no mood to deny his best friend so he gestured towards the top of the classroom.
"Hope you's don't mind me singing another song," Zayn said grabbing a guitar and tuning it. "But frankly, I don't care what you's think," he looked over towards Liam. "Oops?" He said as Liam laughed, remembering the 13-year-old Zayn walking around saying it for every mistake he made.
"Okay," Zayn sighed, and began singing "Stop" by Dalton Rapattoni.
Zayn glanced around and saw that the majority of the class was crying. Looking over towards Liam he saw the look of pride in his face, the look he missed so badly in the 4 years that Liam was in America got college. Before Zayn could process what was going on, Niall had made his way from his seat and was now sobbing into Zayn's shoulder. Zayn hugged him back tightly and smiled at Liam. Right now, it seemed as though they'd both be getting their happy endings.
