Colors, its always the colors

Tom stared up at the sky. The sunset would've looked beautiful to an average person. But Tom was anything but average.

The colors that shine up above

Tom used to believe that heaven was a wonderful place. That when he arrived all of the pain that resided in him would disappear. But now it seemed as if getting to heaven was a task that would take too long.

Every day seems exactly the same

Tom had a normal routine. One that consisted of him waking up, going to the bar, and going home. He avoided everyone, feeling as if he were a burden, some extra weight that his friends didn't need.

You can't break the cycle, love

Tom had tried to be better, tried to go places with Edd and Matt, tried to accept Tord when he came back, but everytime he saw Edd and Matt together he felt like a third wheel. And when he had seen Tord, all he could think of was how he had hurt him. So he just continued with his unhealthy routine.

Your friends try to help you

Tom's friends had tried to make him feel better, offered to hang out, offered to help him.

But you push them away

Tom only thought they were doing out of pity. They didn't care. Why would they care? Tom obviously didn't, so why should they? He couldn't see they were trying to help him. He could only see that they were pitying him. So he pushed them away, never talking to them, never answering his phone.

Day dissolves into darkness

As time passed, Tom refused to even leave his apartment unless it was for alcohol. He saw no need to ever leave his apartment. Its not that anyone on the outside would miss him.

And you begin fading away

Tom slowly lost track of his mind, and of his actions. He drank until he was numb, and ignored those who came to visit him. He didn't even notice when be started violently coughing up blood.

Crashing, falling, friends reaching for the phone

Tom heart had stopped beating. Defibrillators were being pressed to his chest, while his body jolted with electricity. Tom could see his dead body. He could see his friends sobbing. And as much as Tom wanted to stay dead, he couldn't.

The pain you've experienced is all you've ever known

Tom woke with a jolt, tears falling down his face. His friends raced to his side, overwhelming him with hugs and words. Tom couldn't hear them though. He was shocked that they were there. After all he had done, pushed them away and refused to talk about them. He pushed all the negative things away from his mind and enjoyed his friend's embraces.

Change is coming, and you don't understand

Tom had stay the night in the hospital. He didn't want to, but didn't argue with the doctor. He was too weak to. After much debating between Edd, Matt, and Tord, they decided that Tord would stay the night with Tom in the hospital.

That you're falling in love, dear, with one reckless man

Tom wasn't angry that Tord was gonna be the one staying with him. If anything, he was quite relieved. He had loved Tord for awhile now, but could never express it. So the hate he had came out on Tord. It was accidental and everytime the two would fight, Tom would walk away and beat himself up for it.

She keeps her emotions in bottles

Tord sat on the tiny blow-up mattress that the hospital had provided him. It was uncomfortable. If Tom had been someone else, anyone else, Tord would have made them stay with whoever it was. But it wasn't some other person. This was someone he deeply cared for. This was Tom. Tord looked over at his eyeless friend.
"How do you feel, Thomas?" Tord asked. Tom shrugged, avoiding Tord's eyes.
"I don't know," was all he said, the words coming out were barley above a whisper. Tord wished he knew what the other was thinking.
