Chapter 4 - Mysterious Michaela

Thalia's POV

I better stay in my room than going there in that party. I decided to just stay than making myself in danger. Paano nalang at may mataponan ako ng tubig dun sa party na yun? Pinapahamak ko lang ang sarili ko eh.

Gutom na gutom na ako. Wala pa ring pagkain ang dumating dito sa room ko. Sa mga oras na 'to dapat may pagkain na ako eh, except nalang kapag may surgery ako. Eh wala naman eh kaya asan na yung pagkain ko? They already forgot about me? I know that everyone hates me because of my attitude but they should not do this kind of revenge to me. I ain't allergic to any kind of food kaya ayos lang kahit anong pagkain pa yan.

I decided to go out in my room at nagbabakasali akong mahanap yung cook na laging naghahatid ng pagkain sa every room. Pero pagkalabas ko, walang tao ang pathway. Looks like everyone is enjoying their food except for me. 


"Excuse me, Miss. May problema ba?" The nurse ask me. Yes, I have a problem with this hospital.


"None." Instead of saying the truth I prefer the lie. "I'm just going to ask if where's the cafeteria." I ask. Mas Mabuti na ngang pumunta sa cafeteria kesa sa pagalitan sila dahil wala akong pagkain. But the truth is, I know where the cafeteria is.


"Ammn, nasa 1st floor eh--" Pinutol ko nalang siya. I know where is it already.


"Okay." At pumunta na nga sa elevator. As the elevator close, I press the button which means 1st floor.



Pagkarating ko sa cafeteria, saktong parang nasa mga tatlo lang yung tao. It looks like, everyone did attended the party. That's good then. No danger. 


"Oh!" I was on the counter when the old lady got shocked. "Matagal na kitang nakikita dito sa hospital pero ngayon ka lang ata bumisita dito sa cafeteria, ija." She's right, it's my first. First time kong pumunta at nakapasok dito sa cafeteria but this place isn't weird at all. Siguro dahil walang tao. Usually naweweirduhan ako sa isang lugar kapag first time kong makapunta dun. "Ano ba ang I-oorder mo?" So this is how you order food from a cafeteria? This is my first time! First time kong um-order ng food dito. This is so exciting! Pero ano ba ang oorderin ko? "Ija? Ano na ang order mo?" The old lady ask again.


I looked to their menu. I don't know what to order. They have so many foods but I think I'll like their chicken curry so I order it. "Chicken curry please." Actually hindi lang 'to basta-bastang chicken curry with rice. Base sa picture na nasa menu, may mga gulay sa tabi nga chicken curry. I think, in every plate, there is vegetables. Mas gusto ko na ata ang cafeteria kesa sa mga pagkaing hinahatid sa bawat room. Hindi ka kasi makakapili eh kung ano ang gusto mong kainin, not like in cafeteria, you can choose whatever you want to eat.

I just sat in the chair near the counter. Maghihintay nalang ako, mukhang may luto na rin naman sila eh because it's already dinner time, I guess they are always like that. That's what I always see in dramas or movies. Nakakatawa ngang isipin eh na na-excite pa talaga akong um-order ng pagkain dito sa cafeteria.


"Ija, ito na yung in-order mo." Tawag sa akin nung matandang babae sa counter. She's not that old, actually. She looks like a 50 year old lady.

Kinuha ko nalang sa counter ang pagkain ko and I'm not surprised anymore, kung ano yung Nakita ko sa menu, yun nga yung pagkain. May mga gulay ito. It's nice then. 

I was supposed to eat my meal when someone talked to me in my back.


"Sinusundan mo na naman ako?" Alam ko kung kaninong boses yun. Mambwebwesit na naman 'to. Gusto ko ng kumain ng mapayapa eh pero dumating pa talaga ang mahanging 'to.

Tiningnan ko siya sa likod pero nagulat ako nang Makita kong may mga kasama siyang mga bata at ang isa sa mga dun ay si Dani. 


"Ate!" Dani greeted me. "Nandito ka pala? I thought you go there in the party." He said.


"I don't want to go there, Dani." I said. "Come and sit. Kakain ba kayo?" Tanong ko kay Dani. 

Umupo si Dani kasama nung dalawa pa niyang kasama. Ang dalawa niya pang kasama ay mga batang babae. yung isa parang kasing-edad lang ni Dani and the other one looks like a grade 6 student or highschool student. 


"Ate, let me introduce to you my friends." Napatingin muna ako kay Mr. Vidallon. I just snob when our eyes met. Katabi niya lang si Dani. "First of all, everyone this is Ate Thalia! Ate Thalia, This is Sophia, the one that I mention earlier." Dani smiled. I can still remember Sophia, yung sinasabing kalaro ni Dani. 


"Hello po!" Sophia smiled.


"And this is ate Michaela." Pagpapakilala ni Dan dun sa batang parang mas matanda pa sa kanila. Michaela didn't respond. Parang tahimik talaga siyang tao just like me. It looks like she's suffering. Parang may problema siya. But she's still not an adult. Maybe she's just a teenager but it looks like she has so many problems and secrets. "And this is--" Bigla nalang pinutol ni Hephaestus si Dani. Wala talagang respeto. Magsasalita na sana yung bata eh.


"Kilala na ako nyan Dani, stalker ko yan eh." Are you making me laugh, Mr. Vidallon?


"Nagpapatawa ka ba?" Tanong ko dito. Pinapatawa niya ata kami eh.


"Bakit? Hindi ba?" Nambwebwesit talaga ang lalaking 'to.


"Malamang! Sino ba naman kasing matinong babae ang susunod sayo?" I can't control myself anymore. Tumayo na talaga ako, he's making me crazy. Nanggigigil na talaga ako sa lalaking 'to.


"Sino ba kasing babae ang hindi susunod sa akin? Ang pogi ko eh." Sabi nito. Ang sarap niyang sipain eh. Parang na-injury ata siya eh, sa may paa niya. Ang sarap niyang sipain.


"Excuse me? I'm not like that." Sabi ko dito. Nakakawalang-gana ang lalaking 'to. Pagpasensyahan na ako ng Panginoon pero nawala na ata ang gana kong kumain dahil sa lalaking 'to. 


"Anong hindi? Noon ko pa nga napapansin eh sunod ka ng sunod sa akin. Kahit dito pa nga sa hospital eh." Sa bagay, baka mag-iisip talaga siya na sinusundan ko siya kasi kung nasan naman talaga ak, nandun siya at kung nasan siya, nandun rin ako. Just like now, I'm a patient here in this hospital and same to him, too. But why? Why is it a bad timing? This guy will identify me as his crazy stalker because of this coincidence or timing.


"You're really bad at joking, huh." I said.


"Oh ate? Kuya? Why are you arguing?" Sophia ask. I forgot that we're in front of the kids. Baka sundin pa kami ng mga ito at mag-away away.


"We're not." I just said and just smile. But my smile is still fake. 


"Oo, we're not arguing." Sabi naman ni Mr. Vidallon. Ang bait niya ata sa mga bata pero sa akin hindi. Ano 'to? Favoritism?
