Tom's pov
Chill dude. So what if most of the day has passed and he hasn't come by? It's early. Maybe he's still weary? Yea. That's gotta be it.
I pull out marshmallow from his cage and start ruffling his soft fur. I stop only when I heard a knock at my door, leaving his fur to stick up in all directions.
"Who is it?" The door creaks open revealing Brian, my life coach.
"Um, master Tom, it's getting pretty late. Maybe you should consider getting some rest." He walked in and closed the door behind him. I throw myself onto my bed as I sigh.
"Yea. I guess you're right. It's not like he's coming now anyways." I sit back up and smile at him. "Thank you Brian. That is all. You get some rest yourself." I flick my wrist to dismiss him and leaves my room after putting marshmallow back in his cage.
I stayed up for another hour then decided to put myself to bed. I pull the blanket up over my shoulder and rest my head on the pillow, looking up at the ceiling. If I slept on my side my horns would make holes in my bed. I close my eyes and start to drift off when suddenly I feel a burst of heat and see a flash of light over my closed eyelids. I quickly sit up ready to fight only to see Marco standing awkwardly in my window.
"Oh uh, sorry. Were you sleeping?" He had one leg in my room while the other was still outside. I quickly extinguish my flames and run up to him helping him through my window.
"Hey. I had just closed my eyes. I didn't think you were going to come." He laughed a bit as he stumbled out through the window and leaned on me losing his balance.
"Yea, I had to wait till star was asleep otherwise she'd say she had to come with me to make sure you wouldn't pull anything." I help him stand up and then I go turn on my light so we can see.
"Yea that kinda sounds like Star. Always making sure she's in the middle of the action or center of attention." He chuckled with me and then I realized-I have nothing to actually talk about, and all the castle is asleep. So if we were to do something, I'd have to sneak him around the castle.
"Um... heh. How are you?" He looked around awkwardly then leaned against a wall. Guess he didn't know where to go. I don't really know either.
"Here, uh lets sit." I climb onto the center of my large bed and pat a spot next to me. He follows and sits beside me. "And I'm doing pretty well, to answer your question. How about you?"
"I'm doing alright. Finally moving up the ranks in karate. A little disappointed Star doesn't approve of you being my friend." He looks down at his hands folded neatly in his lap.
"Well, I'm her defense, I did try to kill you. And I apologize for that." He laughs a little and I join. Why is this so awkward?!
"What should we do?"
"I have no idea. Everyone is asleep."
"Oh. I'm sorry I came so late"
(Get your minds out of the gutter)"Well, I could always sneak you around the castle?" He lifted his head up, almost excited. It was honestly adorable. Okay Tom, we got this. "We have a pool, although I don't think you can swim in lava.... we have a ball room, but you've already been there......" damn, this is harder than I thought it was going to be.
"We could just walk around and talk? Maybe grab a snack?" He was already getting out of the bed, looking forward to just getting out of the room.
"Sure. But we gotta be quiet. My dad.... he's not a heavy sleeper, and that makes him very crabby." I shiver a little. Even though he's technically a mewman, he's terrifying in his own way.
"Right. I'll be sure to not run into him." He chuckled a little awkwardly.
"Alright, lets go." I jump out of bed and quietly open my door. I look down the hallway to make sure there's no one there.
Don't get me wrong, it's my castle, I can walk around all I want. I just don't want any of them to see Marco. Specifically see Marco seen with me, then tell my mother, and have her gush, and both parents make a big deal about nothing.
I look back at Marco and we sneak out of my room and quickly make our way down the halls. I lead him to the bro hall. Mom calls it my play room, Dad says it's a man cave, but it's my bro hall.
When we finally reach it and close the door behind us, we bust out laughing.
"We just snuck around a whole castle!"
"That I live in!"
"Just makes it even more funny!"
We both sit on the ground letting our laughing fits die down. When they finally do, I walk him over to the ping pong table. "Wanna have a go?" I hold up a basket of balls and anther with paddles.
"Sure man. Just, I can't stay too late, I have school in the morning."
"Oh. Right yea. Of course. School. Uh, first of ten then?" He nods and grabs a paddle. I serve a ball and decide to go easy on him. Which was really hard to do. He scored zero and I got ten. I slaughtered him.
"Hey, Tom. This was fun. Maybe again some time. This weekend? It's just getting later than I thought it ways." He laughs a little and nod.
"Yea no problem guy, uh Marco. You've got my number right? So just ring me up when you wanna do something." He waves good bye and I open a portal to his room for him.
I run back to my room and flip onto my bed. Tonight has given me the perfect idea. A way I can see Marco all the time and make sure Star stays in the friend zone.
I'm going to go to Earthling School.
