Chapter 2

I jump to my feet and race around the room, grabbing items that will help me during my hunt. Granola bars, knives, clothes for the both of us, canteens of water, a flashlight, a sleeping bag, and a compass all stashed into my travel pack. I slipped back into the tunnel, not bothering to put back the tiles in case she comes back. I make my way back to my hut to grab just two more things.Once there I climb out of the sandy hole, I look around the green hued hut and spot the first item, my hand crafted bow and arrows. I quickly scramble out of the hut for the last item requires the wind, forest and sea to be willing and peaceful. Racing to the forest and beach line, I place my left foot on the beach side and my right on the forest side. Once I feel balanced with the elements around, I close my eyes and consetrate. First I focas solely on the ocean, listen to its pounding waves and its soothing water voice. I slowly raise my left hand to the hieght of waist and imagine a ribbon of water, flow out of the sea and start swirling around me. Next I imagine a breeze stream out of a gust wind and raise my right hand to my waist, while the breeze  joins the ribbion of water. Finally I make a stip of dirt and leaves flow out of the cool forest and join the other elements as i raise both hands above my head. As he elements spinn faster and faster creating a wall of wind, water and dirt, I slowly push my hands together as if i were squeezing a ball, until my hands are inches apart. I lower my hands and the elements shrink into a tiny tornado in between my palms. There, I imagine as if I were sucking in all the oxygen in the world through my hands. Slowly, I watch the tornado split in half and flow in to my body through my hands. I drop to the ground exhasted, wanting to just lie there and sleep forever. But I had to get up and find Jessica! Sighing I slowly stand on my two shaking legs and start walking into the forest. Something tells me to go south despite my liking, since south is where the city is.

Reaching the cliff that over looks the city, I cringe at the lack of nature in the concreate maze below. How can so many people cram themselves into such a drab place their entire lives. Standing up, I creep over to the edge of the cliff and take a deep breath, its okay you can do this!  I snap my eyes shut and jump.
