Two months after the day I was given the permission to Panic!'s concert had past.
It was the first day of August. The time was 6:15PM and I didn't have any school that day.
I'd only have to wait ten more days until that concert happens. I was still excited about it, but at the same time, I was depressed and I was tearing up because of all the hard things I've ever been through in my life, and because of Jason not being there for me when I needed him.I made a call with Olivia asking her if I could just have a sleepover at her house.
"Hey, Olivia."
"Hi! What's up?" She answered as she picked up her phone.
"Do you mind if I just stayed at your house for a few days?" I asked.
"Sure! Why? Is there something wrong? What is it?" She replied.
"I'm not feeling too good. It's about a friend of mine who lives in a city from America and it's seven hours away from us. I'll be sure to explain more as soon as I'm there."
"What time are you coming?"
"6:30."
----------
I made my way downstairs as I saw my mom carrying a frying pan filled with beef and barbecue sauce mixed up together. My family and I said Grace, meaning that we were praying before we ate.
"Hey, mom. I'm staying over at Olivia's house just for five days. Is that okay with you?" I asked.
"Sure, sweetheart. Whatever you want."
"Wait, you're...?" My dad was about to question me about it. But then Mom interrupted him... In a good way, for me.
"Honey, Lauren and Olivia have both been best friends for longer than you think. Their friendship has been going on since they were three years old, and I have had my friendship with Olivia's mother at the same age. Now, let's not be far too concerned about our daughter here, okay? She's turning fifteen." She said understandably.
"Okay, then. I trust her." He replied, agreeing to what Mom was saying. Then he smiled, rubbing the top of my head with his one hand and that made me chuckle a little... That kind of brightened up my day.
----------
I packed up my bag and biked to Olivia's house. I saw Olivia's dad, Clark Jackson, sitting outside the house, noticing I was there.
"Hey, Mr. Jackson. Is Olivia here?" I asked as I got off my bike, leaning it onto a wall.
"She's here. She's just inside watching TV with her older sister." He said, flipping to the next page of the newspaper he was reading.
I saw Olivia's mom in the kitchen as I went inside the house. She was cleaning up after the family had supper, as I was saying hi to her. "Oh hello," she said. "You must be Lauren. I'm Olivia's mother, Elizabeth."
I felt honoured to be at their house. "It's really a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Jackson." I replied, shaking her hand.
While I walked into the living room, I saw Olivia and her sister Claire watching the movie IT. It was the 2017 version that they were watching. Though that movie did seem pretty scary, I surprisingly wasn't scared that much because I've already seen it and I saw the trailer before the movie. But despite that, Stephen King did a pretty good job on writing the book of the movie.
"Hey, Olivia. Claire." I said as I sat down beside them.
"Hi."
"This thing you told me about on the phone—Do you wanna talk about it now?" Olivia asked.
