Should've

The bell rings and im so relieved.

I gather my things and head for the door. Mellissa grabs my arm and spins me around almost causing me to drop my books.

"Hey" she says as a smile grows on her face. "Hey" I say back, trying to match her enthusiasm although I don't know what its for. Last time I saw her this happy we were canoeing with Jennette and Alli. "You're coming to Gabbi's party on Saturday night, right? Everyone's gonna be there and you know I don't want to be the only person that shows up without a friend, please say you'll go with me! Please please ple-" See that's the thing about Mellissa, she talks extremely fast and will babble on forever if you don't stop her so I cut her off at the 7th 'please'. "Yeah sure, I wouldn't miss it." I say struggling to release her tight grip on my arm. "Yay! I knew you would come! You're the best!" she says back pulling me into a hug and then bouncing out the door and down the hall.

I rub my arm and continue on out the door. A party? Last party I went to I got locked in a closet and had to wait till the next day for someone to let me out, and let's just say that Mrs. Figurroa was not very pleased to find someone in there when she was looking for an outfit to wear that morning. I make it to my car and throw my things into the passenger seat. As I'm pulling out of the parking lot, Alli runs up to my window and stops me.

"Destiny!" she yelps at me. "That's my name." I say wittily. "Ok, so you know how me and Josh are like a "thing" now?" she asked. "I am aware" I say back. "Well," she continues "Gabbi told me to come to her party tomorrow night but Josh has set up a cute little date for us at the diner off of Wilmington street and-" "Awww" I chime in. "I know I know, anyways, I don't want Gabbi to be upset that I'm ditching her party for Josh, because she is not too fond of him, so could you please put in a word that I am sick when you go to the party?"

No one is fond of Josh except for Alli. He does seem like he really likes Alli so we support her even though we are always suspicious of that kid. Alli brings me out of my thoughts,

"Can you please?" "Uh, yeah sure. No problem. Have fun on your date". "Thanks so much, you're a life saver." Alli sees Jennette out of the corner of her eye and starts walking towards her as I continue to back out. "Hey, Alli! Wait!" I yell to her. Alli twirls around and faces me. "What?" "How did you know I was going to Gabbi's party anyway?" I question. "Oh, Mellissa told me as she was coming out of the court yard." she answers and then turns back around and rushes to Jennette. God, Mellissa is such a blabber, I think to myself and finally pull out of school.

Luckily I only live about 10 minutes from school so I get home fast. I come inside to find no one home. I see a note on the fridge and I decide to set my things down to read it.

"Hey sweetie, I got called back into work yet again so im sorry I didn't have time to make you a lunch that you deserve but I found a very juicy apple and set it on the counter for you. Enjoy. I'll see you around 9PM. Love you! Xo -Mom"

I finish reading the note and leave it on the fridge and grab the apple. I don't mind being home alone, I'll just have an impractical jokers marathon until she gets home and makes dinner and so that is what I did.
