Chapter 2

I wake up Friday morning to my phone blaring.

I groggily reached one arm from under the covers and felt my night stand until I found the phone and put it to my ear. "Uh, Hello?" "Destiny! Glad you're awake, I wanted to go shopping for a new dress before Gabbi's party and you're coming with me." she squeaks. "First of all, I wasn't already up. You woke me up and second.. it's 7:30AM I don't think the mall is even open right now Mellissa!" I pout. "Of course it isn't! it takes me about 45 minutes to get to your house and I wanna give you time to get ready so get your move on girl! Im leaving in 15 so that gives you plenty of time. Byyyeee!"

she hangs up the phone before I'm able to respond.

I set my phone back on the night stand and sit up in bed. I rub my eyes go to my closet and grab some clothes and head for the bathroom to get ready. Once out of the shower I put on foundation and a top eyeliner and throw my hair up into a messy bun.

I head downstairs and fine my mom in the kitchen. "Something smells good" I say peaking over her shoulder at what she's cooking. "You're up early" she says to me. "Yeah, you can thank Mellissa for that." I sigh and sit down at the table. "Well, I was making these pancakes for you actually but i was just gonna put them in the microwave with a note for you to have when you woke up but you spoiled the surprise.. so surprise!" she chuckles. "Anyways, im fine with giving them to you now too." She smiles. She flips them one last time and then places them on a plate in front of me. "Bon Appetit" she says and places a kiss on my forehead. "Thanks mom" I return the smile and eat.

"I have to head off to work now but ill be home around 5 and then we can have a girls night" she beams and grabs the keys while heading to the door. "As much as I'd love to have a girls night, and I really do but Mellissa has dragged me into going to Gabbi's party tonight and I promised I would go." Mom frowns. "A party? Do you remember what happened to you last time you went to a party?" She remarks. "Yes I do and I assure you I will stay away from closets at all costs." I say back. "And, will there be boys?" She asks concerned. "You know Gabbi, mom, there isn't a boy she wouldn't invite to her party but you  don't have to worry about me, boys have cuties" I wink at her.

"Alright alright, as long as I have your word" she laughs, "Just be home before 12AM, have fun sweetie. Bye I love you." and with that she reaches the door and steps out of it.

"Love you too" I yell back.

 "You are crazy if you think I'm going to wear this dress" I declare to Mellissa. "Oh come on, you look so cute in it! I'd wear it if it was in my size!" she ponders, "Hello, I thought we were shopping for you, not me!" I throw back at her. "We are" she says, "but I also cant have my friend showing up wearing something tacky." "Heeyy, I have nice clothes!" I defend. "They were nice back in middle school!" Mellissa screeches. I turn in the dress and see that a lot of my back is showing. "Nope, not wearing it" I say as I push her out of the dressing room.
