Chapter 2 - Daily Life Day 4 - Free Time Event - Hikari

Shiori stepped into the dining hall.

The room was full of chatter, surprisingly.

Sadako, Hitoshi, and Chiyo were talking about concerts.

Bunta and Isamu were talking about drinks and sweets that would go well togther.

Hoizumi was staring off into space.

He's wearing Tsuchida's hat...

Katsushi was not so subtly flirting with Hikari, who was ignoring him.

Mayumi was taking a short nap, laying her head on the table

Kazue was doodling on a piece of paper.

Riku was intensely glaring at the monitor on the wall.

Tomoyasu was glaring at everyone in the room.

Is no one really that bothered by yesterday?

Shiori sat down in her usual seat.

She glanced around the room, "Where's Nishioka?"

Everyone froze.

"You don't think she got murdered, right?!" Hikari cried out.

"It's only been a couple hours," Hoizumi reassured, "No one would be able to plan and kill her in that time."

"But are you sure about that?" Tomoyasu raised an eyebrow, "After Oshima, you don't know what's gonna happen. She chose Tsuchida because he was the most oblivious and naive one here. After him is Nishioka. It's not that much of a str-"

He was interrupted by Tamao opening the door.

Everyone started screaming her name in relief.

Tamao blinked, "Did something happen when I was gone?"

"You came later than usual, so we all thought something happened to you!" Sadako yelled, hugging Tamao.

She looked down, "Oh, wow. Your outfit is different."

Shiori glanced at Tamao.

She had taken off her hoodie and wrapped it around her waist, revealing a light to dark blue gradient t-shirt with no sleeves with the words, 'HOW TO BE A PROTAGONIST 101'.

"You look so cute!" Kazue commented, squeezing Tamao's cheeks.

She waved her away, "I'm hungry. What's for breakfast?"

Shiori stepped out of the dining hall, walking into the AV room where Hikari was sitting.

"Heya!"

No

Shiori sat down next to her.

"Do you want to talk about yester-"

Hikari slapped a hand over Shiori's mouth, "Don't bring it up."

Shiori pressed on regardless, "You and Oshima were really close after she fixed your clothes for you, huh?"

Hikari sighed, turning her head away, "We were really good friends. I guess I understand why she murdered, but.."

She paused, "She planned it. Ahiru planned to kill all of us in order to escape."

Shiori pointed something out, "Well, she didn't know until the trial that she would be killing all of us if she got away with it."

"But despite that, she still didn't confess!" Hikari shouted, throwing her hands in the air, "She was gonna be fine with killing all of us!"

Shiori glanced at her, biting her lip.

Probably should've listened when she told me not to bring it up..

They sat in silence for a couple moments.

Hikari sighed, "I'm sorry I snapped. It's just...I miss her.."

Shiori nodded, "I think all of us do."

Hikari smiled. It was small, but still a smile.

They spent the rest of their time together in comfortable silence.
