CHEN MEI XING

❝it started on the day of you're accident.❞

"we don't know exactly what happened that night with you and minghao." she said his name with disgust to which i rolled my eyes to.

"but we know that minghao caused you to have that accident." my mother glares at the picture in her hands.

"you." my father tells my mother. she rolls her eye problematically. "fine, just me. your father believed something else."

"continue on with the story." i urged them. i wasn't really much of a patient person.

"the thing was, you're mother didn't like minghao's family very much. and their family didn't really like ours too." my father decides to finish for my aggravated mom.

"at the hospital, minghao did visit you. but you were still unconscious. but along with minghao, his family also came." my mother rolls her eyes, again.

i wonder how much eye rolls is gonna take till her eyeballs roll to the back of her head.

"your mom confronted his family and so did his. they fought back—"

"they were rude! i was being nothing but polite to them. i told them that i felt like minghao was a bad influence on mei xing and decided that you two wouldn't hang out with each other anymore" my mom rambles.

"his mother, oh, don't get me started. she likes to talk and talk! she said that mei xing was a bad influence to her son, could you believe that? but we both agreed hat we wouldn't let our children interact with one another. i didn't know they meant that by moving to the states!" my mother continues to talk and talk, just like minghao's mom.

"wow, i didn't know that you could talk that much at once, hon." my father chuckles. she glares at him before facing me seriously.

"whoever gave you this photo must be minghao. only you two have the same copy of this photo. i threw away your copy of the photo." my mom clears her throat suddenly.

"do you know who it is?" she says stiffly. i shake my head, completely in shock of everything.

she stands up from her seat. "i'll leave now. don't let this affect your academic success, mei xing. that's the last thing i'd like to do to you." she leaves the living room, leaving the photo on the coffee table.

"sorry about you're mother. but remember that minghao might be back in china. he's the only one who has this photo other than you. and you're mother threw you're copy away."

"wow." was all i said before rushing to my room, photo in hand, shutting the door. i lay down on the bed, "who are you, minghao?" i trace my finger over his face, examining it closely.

i get up off of my bed, taking a piece of tape. i went to my mirror, taping it on.

i felt happy just looking at the picture.

▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄

i got up for school as usual but this time, i decided to walk to school with justin. i walk to the rather large house, three houses away from mine.

his front door swings open and there he was. dressed in his uniform and his black hair shining in the sun. i sigh, gripping at my backpack straps.

he notices some and runs over. "hey!" he beams.

"hi. let's go?" i said flatly to which he replied with a nod.

as we were walking, he decided it'd be a good idea if he latched our arms together. i didn't have a choice, so i dealt with it. he was constantly jumping around, i was walking like a normal person.

i constantly told him to calm down and walk normally, but he wouldn't listen. at all. something about the walk to school seemed familiar, it seemed right. i felt right when walking to school with justin. why though?

"mei! xing!" justin grabbed me by the shoulders, shaking me harshly.

"what?" i look at him.

"you zoned out for a bit. we're at school now, though." justin gives me a small smile, "i have to get to my friends now but i'll see you later." he rushes off to his friends who gave fist-bumped each other.

"gotta get to class for my phone." my phone was the only thing on my mind for now, that's my main problem.

i pushes past people through the halls, trying to get to my class. i finally got there, mr. yang was there. scrolling on a phone that had the exact same phone case as mine.

i stood towards him, snatching my phone from his hands. "what're you doing?!" i hissed, shielding my phone.

"ms. chen! that is disrespectful, especially to a teacher." he reaches out his hand, motioning for me to give me my phone back to him.

"no! i don't want your filthy hands all over my phone. it's one thing to crack my passcode and look through my stuff but it's another thing to have the nerve to ask for it back, you ass!" i walk to the back of the class as he continues to walk closer to me.

my back presses against the back wall. he comes closer and closer.

"mei xing! i was looking for you." justin's voice calls out, grabbing at my wrist. "i'm gonna take her for a little while."

he drags me away from that perverted teacher. "you're so lucky i came to save you just in time." i pull my arm away from his grip, glaring at him.

"i don't need anybody to save me." i sneer. "ugh, i hate you so much."

"why do you hate me?"

"just because."
