CHEN MEI XING

"what's that?" justin scratches his head, looking confused as ever.

i burst out into a blushing mess as i realized i said that out loud,"i don't know, i'm probably saying nonsense again."

he looks at me with a concerned expression, "we should get you home, i think you're sick." my eyes widen as his warm hands come in contact with my forehead. i feel my blood rushing towards my head and ears.

"are you cold? your ears are turning red. do you want my jacket?" he slips off his jacket and drapes it over my shoulders. it smelled of his scent, it was a sweet scent and it left me wanting more.

i feel his arms wrapping around my shoulders, pulling me close to him as i shivered. i smile happily as we walked through our neighborhood, towards my house.

we stop at the front of my beige colored house. "i have to get going." he nods, pulling me into a tight hug just as i was about to walk towards my house.

i freeze, unable to move. i relaxed into the hug and snaked my hands around his torso. "i've missed your hugs, mei xing." i hear him mutter underneath his breath as he squeezed me tighter.

i furrow my eyebrows in confusion, "what do yo-"

"chen mei xing! what're you doing out there? and with a boy?" my father's voice calls out from my house. i pull away from justin's embrace, giving him a small smile before running into my home with red tinted cheeks.

i threw my bag onto the floor of my bedroom, flopping onto my bed face-first. i hear someone knock on my bedroom door, "why're you coming home so late, mei xing? who was that?" my father continues to pester me with questions.

i sit up straight, clearing my throat. "that was justin huang. we were meeting up-" i desperately tried to think of an excuse. "-at the library! we were studying for a- uh, quiz on english." he didn't look convinced, i flash him a quick smile to seal it off.

"justin huang?" my father's face suddenly had a look of panic. he exited my room, leaving me puzzled. i followed him and found him on the sofa, his phone in his hand as he anxiously tapped his foot.

"dad, what's wrong?"

"nothing, everything's fine. i'm assuming you ate dinner already, go ahead and sleep." he gives me a smile for reassurance. i nod slowly, walking into my bathroom. my clothes drop to the tiled floor, i open the shower door and walk inside.

i twist the water temperature knob towards the colder side. i wince as i feel the cold water hit my skin, reaching for the shampoo. i squeeze the clear substance into my hand, rubbing it into my hair.
