The sound of a bird chirping breaks the silence. I quickly pull out my phone from my top, getting a wierd look from Alex as he chuckles slightly. I put my phone up to my ear.
"Hello?" I say when I answer.
"Anne, It's Lizbette, you better get here quick, Mr.Diamond was going to mark you late for like the third time this week, but I told him your car ran out of gas and you will be here soon."
"Oh my gosh, I completely forgot! I owe you one thanks Liz!" I look at the time on my phone and it has already past 20 minutes since the last time I checked. I place my phone back in my blouse after hanging up.
"Um, Alex I have to go. It was Liz, I'm late for work!"
"Im sorry for keeping you up. But please think about what I said. I miss you Anne and it hurts me to think that you don't have feelings for me anymore."
"I'm sorry Alex but I have to go, I'll catch up with you later okay?" He nods in agreement.
"Damnet, I didn't even get to have lunch." I mumble more to myself than to Alex but it was still audible.
"Umm," he rubs the back of his neck, a nervous habit, "I-If you want I can pick you up from work and we could get something to eat." he suggests carefully, looking to the floor seconds later.
"Alex," I say sternly.
"I-It's just a suggestion. You don't have to come if you don't want to, but I.."
"What time were you thinking?" I cut him off to stop the blush from spreading his cheeks any further. When he looks up from the floor he smiles a bright smile. We agree on quarter to four since my shift ends around that time. He walks back to Luke who he practically just left stranded. Lucky for Luke, he found comany with a girl. Jeese, Luke and his gift to attract random girls. Except this girl seemed oddly familiar, I've seen her before. I can't seem to remember where I have seen her but the feeling I have of her is not exactly good. I give a quick wave to Luke before walking back to my car.

Alex will be here soon to pick me up from work to go eat since I didn't get a chance to eat during lunch break. That's thanks to a certain someone. Alex and I agreed that after lunch we will come back here to Diamond's Publishing to pick up my car then go our seperate ways.
I just hope lunch won't be as awkward as I'm imagining. I have no idea why I agreed to have lunch with Alex. He just seemed so pleading and I missed him these past weeks even though he broke my heart.
I am still furious with Alex and I am trying to find a reasonable explanation, besides alcohol, as of why he needed company with another girl when he had me. He came up with the excuse of alcohol in his system and I hoped that was the true reason. It's been a month and a half since the last time I had a real conversation with him. He would always text me asking me out to lunch or the movies but I would always reject. I asked him for some space so I could think but I don't think I had made the "space" thing clear enough to him.
So now I am here, outside by the parking lot of Diamond's Publishing, sitting on a bench waiting for Alex to pick me up. It's now 4:45, fifteen minutes later than we agreed to meet. What if he's not picking me up? What if he decided to ditch me for another girl? Shut it Anne your just being paranoid. Or am I? Shit, I've gone crazy.
My thoughts are interupted as I feel a soft tap on my shoulder. I look up to see Alex looking down at me, a smirk on his face. I let out a deep breath that I didn't know I was holding.
"Sorry to wake you but I'm starving and I think you are too since you missed lunch." He holds out his right hand to help me up from the sitting position I have taken comfort in. I deny the gesture, brushing the dust off my pencil skirt while getting up to make it look like I didn't notice.
