15 more minutes. Most people would be excited about summer break, I am not one of those people. Yes I am happy that I don't have to wake up every morning. But I don't really have anything to look forward to other than working in the hardware store with my older brother. No, I'm not antisocial I have a good amount of friends. I love meeting new people and making friends.
I'm just not like everyone else that wants to do exotic things every night. I rather stay at home and play my piano or read. Im not completely boring every now and then I wanna have a good time. Let's just say I'm a mixture of calm and wild.
I scratched away at the wooden desk. Leaving some type of symbol to go along with the many others on the desk. Some people left their names, social media information or something inappropriate. I decided to leave a small snowflake, it goes with my name so why not?
I was too busy concentrating when a hand started to wave in my face. Rachel a platinum blonde with bright blue eyes stood over me.
"The bell rung Snow." Well that was a quick fifteen minutes. "It's summer break bastards!"
I let out a giggle. The teacher scolded her but didn't do anything else. She grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the classroom. Rachel has been my friend since 4th grade. As of now we are considered Seniors. She is rebel on many levels but she's the excitement in my life.
We cleaned out our lockers and walked out of the building.
"I can't believe it. We are finally seniors!!." She jumped up and down like a five year old.
"Technically we aren't seniors until the fall." She rolled her ocean blue eyes at me.
"Your such a kill joy Snow. Try to think about this is the best way. One more year and then we are free." I shrugged my shoulders.
I wouldn't consider it being free. I do plan on going to college somewhere nice. I always wanted to travel and hopefully I can.....one day.
We continued walking to the hardware store. I don't start working till tomorrow but I just wanted to check up on my brother. The hardware store was just around the corner from the school. So it really didn't take long.
We walked threw the front door and I was immediately hit with the smell of paint and wood. The familiar smell made a small smile creep on my face. Rachel on the other hand had her shirt over her nose.
"It smells weird in here." She complained.
I ignored her and walked over to the front counter while she walked to the bathroom.
"Hey Snow. How was your last day of school?" Donny asked while writing something down.
"It was fine I guess."
Donny was five years older than me. But we share the same birthday. August 1, even tho I was supposed to be born on the second. I'm 17 while he's 23.
"You know you don't start until tomorrow right?" He looked up and arched his eyebrow.
"I know I just wanted to check up on you."
Rachel finally walked out and stood next to me.
"Hey Donny." She batted her eyelashes at him.
"Hey Rachel."
She was staring at him with that look in her eyes. Gross. Rachel always had a crush on my brother. Of course he knows but doesn't engage in her. He has a girlfriend anyway and they have been dating for about two years. But Rachel claims he is only with her to make her jealous.
"I guess I'll see you at home." I told him.
"Alright love you."
"You too." With that he just walked into the back room. Rachel was still looking at him as he walked away. I pinched her upper arm causing her to wince.
"Hey what was that for?" She glared at me as usual.
"Stop checking out my brother." I snapped. The mention of him made her smirk.
"I can't help it he just so hot Snow. I love him." She fanned herself and I just stared at her. My mouth made a thin line. Once again gross. She could probably have any boy she wanted and she decides she wants Donny of all people.
Rachel is a very attractive young woman. Boys throw themselves at her but she doesn't really pay them any mind. She gets enough action for the both of us. I'm not shaming myself I come from good genes. My hair is a dusty black with green streaks that I added recently. I have gray eyes that people always complement me on. I was so called "blessed" in the boob department and my hips stuck out more than other girls.
But my height made me look like a twelve year old, thanks grandma.
I ended up walking Rachel home first because she doesn't like walking home alone. It wasn't that hot outside. There was a good breeze going. It gave me a little chill down my spine but I enjoyed it. The birds were chirping and flying around. My neighborhood was quiet the only thing you could hear was the sounds of nature.
