My Sparkling Snow

Chapter 4

I stood on the ladder and started restocking the shelves. Thanks to my height I couldn't do this without a ladder. I heard Donny chuckling from the counter.

"What's so funny?" I asked

"Nothing your just so short." He started to laugh more and I gave him the bird. He put his hand on his chest in a hurt expression.

"Wow Snow and I thought we were closer than that."

"Whatever." I continued to put the stuff on the shelves. After I was done I put the ladder back.

"Come watch the counter for me I'm about to go make a run." Donny said as he grabbed his keys. I made my way to the other side of the counter as he walked out.

It was a pretty slow day. People don't usually come in on a Saturday thought so I guess it's okay.

I was busy playing with my slinky when I heard the bell of the store go off. I thought it was Donny but instead it was Cody.

"Hey Snow I didn't know you worked here." He made his way over to me.

"Yeah I just started my brother owns the store." He nodded. "Need help finding something?"

"Oh yeah my dad sent me in here to get some paint brushes."

I lead him to aisle with the stuff he needed. He grabbed three and followed me so I could ring him up.

"So do you stay around here?" He asked

"Yeah I don't live that far away, two blocks ." I put his brushes in a bag." 6.75 is your total."

He handed me a ten when I went to get his change he declined it.

"Just keep it my dad won't care." I smiled.

"Thanks I guess I'll see you around."

"Don't worry ill come up here to bother you some more." He said as he walked out of the store. Now if I was into boys I would try something out with Cody. He had blonde hair with chocolate brown eyes. He probably got a lot of attention from the ladies. I shook my head at how I met him.

Donny finally came back in." Where'd you go?" I asked

"Had to go pay a bill for the store that's all nothing major. Just laying it ahead of time." I nodded. "It's pretty slow today if you wanna clock out you can." He told me

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah snow I'm sure." He laughed. "Go ahead and go hang out or something. I'm about to close up anyway."

"Okay thanks." I took off the apron I had on and hung it up. After I clocked out I went to walk out the door as Rachel was walking in.

"What are you doing here?" I asked

" I was coming to harass you and Donny."

"Well i just clocked out."

" I can still harass him." She tried to hurry and move around me but I caught her arm.

"No you don't, come on where going back to my house."

"Once again Snow your being a kill joy. Why can't you just let me love your brother." She whined

"Because he is in a happy relationship and he's too old for you." I laughed

"Age is nothing but a number! Plus I can make him happy in ways she can't." She smirked

I swear I'm gonna throw up.

"To the house we go." I pushed her in the direction of my house.

I already knew my dad wasn't at home because he had to work today too. So that just left me and Rachel alone. She plopped down on the couch and folded her legs.

"So guess what?"

I went to turn on the tv and sit down

"Wassup?" I asked

"I got us a double date tomorrow!"

I froze.

"You what?"

"A double date I met them at the party they are so cute and sweet don't worry you'll love them."

I highly doubt that. I just looked at her not sure how what to say next.

"Do you not wanna go? I can't go by myself it's called a double date for a reason." She tried to explain

"Do you really think we should go out with strangers?" I hoped she would change her mind about this.

"Oh come on live a little Snow. It could be fun plus we might actually find your mister right."

Yeah that definitely isn't happening Rachel. I just sighed.

"Please say you'll go Snow please." She begged with puppy dogs eyes. I really didn't wanna go through with this and I knew if I didn't she would want a explanation on why. That's a road I wasn't ready to go down right now

"Fine." I mumbled immediately regretting it. She on the other hand squealed with excitement.

"This is gonna be so much fun."

This was gonna be anything but fun but I had to put on a fake smile for this. I mean all I had to do was show up I didn't have to do anything drastic on this "double date." I probably won't even see them again after it so I guess I could do this.

She continued to rattle off things to me but I was barely listening to her. I just shook my head every now and then and said "mhm".

All I think about is I hope some type of miracle happens so I don't have to to go.

Donny walked in the house and sat next to Rachel on the couch. She started smiling like a kid on Christmas morning.

"What are you guys watching? He asked unaware of the 17 year old girl undressing him with her eyes.

"Nothing you can find something to watch." I tossed him the remote and got up to make my way to my room.

"Where are you going?" Rachel called after me.

"To lay down I'm tired I'll text you later." I got up to my room and shut the door. I leaned my head against the wooden door. Please let something happen, please let something happen.

That was all I could think in my mind.
