~Chapter Four~
I head over to the club to make sure Brandis car will be ready for this afternoon since she has a hair appointment right now and forgot to call.
'Scarlet right?' the guy in the garage asks as he wipes his black hands on a rag, it did nothing to remove any grease.
'Yes, I'm just wondering if Brandis car will be ready this afternoon?'
'It'll be ready in about half an hour if you wanted to stick around?' he says. 'Names Rico' he wipes his hand of grease again. I already know he's apart of the club just by looking at him. He is a cute little thing, bald head, tattoos on his head too.
He's quite short, maybe five foot ten and his eyes are so big and brown.
'Sure, is Sam around?' I ask.
'He's in a meeting with a few of the guys' Rico replies.
'Ok, I might just head out then. Brandi will be back later to pick up her car' I tell him as I begin to walk out of the garage.
I had chosen shorts today with a tank top since it's quite warm out.
'What are you doing here?' I turn to see Sam coming from the club house.
'I was checking on Brandi's car and I am just leaving' I'm still mad at him and he knows it.
'Ok, everything ok?'
'Yes' I sigh 'Sam I would tell you if something was wrong with the baby' I promise him.
'What if something's wrong with you? would you still tell me?'
'It has nothing to do with you if something is wrong with me Sam'
'Just got word on Phalipo's where bouts' Tommy says. Sam nods and gives me one last look before they all head to their bikes.
I leave the club and head back to the hair saloon where Brandi is.
I sit and wait for her for an hour before she is finally done.
'Do you think Butch will be there?' Brandi asks as we leave the salon
'I don't know, they were heading out when I left' I say with a shrug.
'Maybe they're back' she hopes. I roll my eyes and shake my head in amusement at her crush.
When we get there, I lean against the car while Brandi goes to talk to Rico.
'You should stay away from Sam. He doesn't need a slut like you ruining his life' I turn to see a blonde bimbo in a mini skirt and red shirt that barely covers her breasts or stomach. I raise my eye brows at her.
'I'm the mother of his kid, that's it' I assure her.
'No you aren't. You've trapped him, chained him to you with that kid' she was getting aggressive with her words.
'Woah' i hold my hands up 'you need to chill. You want Sam then go for gold. To me he is the father of my child'
'Did you plan it?' she asks with a head tilt.
'Are you serious right now?' is this bitch high? 'Do you think I want this life? Think I want my baby growing up in this life? Guns everywhere and always conflict, always danger? I didn't plan this to happen you dumb bitch'
'How old are you? like sixteen?'
'You wouldn't be threatening a lawyer now would you Cindy?' I turn to see Sam and Butch walking this way.
'Lawyer?' she asks worriedly as she looks from Sam to me.
I just stare at her not giving her any answer.
Sam takes my hand and leads me to the club house. I'm glad to see no naked women or drunken men or even cigarette smoke this time as he drags me to the room.
'You're right' he tells me 'this isn't the life to raise a child so I'm giving you a chance now to walk away'
'What? No, Sam I'm not going to deny you access to your child' i know what i said before but i cant do that to him or our child.
'A child shouldn't have to grow up in this life Scarlet, I'm giving you the chance to give it a normal life with no biker gangs or danger' i could tell he was having trouble with this but he was being soft about it.
'No' I say flatly.
'Are you sure because if you don't walk away from this club for good right now, then I will never let you walk. You won't get a second chance to find someone who isn't a criminal to help you raise this kid'
'Listen to yourself' I snap at him 'Do you want me to walk away from you? Do you want to miss out on your child's life?' why do we always fight when we try to talk things through?
'Of course not' he stresses 'I want my kid safe and protected'
'You can do that Sam. This isn't the best choice and in any other circumstance I would have never had children with you but we fucked up and we have to pay the price. How many of your crew have kids? How many families are in this family? What's one more?' I question. As i said, i knew the dangers of this life, the worry and the threats on the families but i also know the love each and evey member has for their family. We are all one big family, may not be happy but it is what it is.
'How many families have died in this family is the question you should be asking doll face' he takes a step back.
'You killed a man for hitting me Sam, I trust you will do worse if anything happened to our child' I say gently.
'He deserved it' he shrugs.
'Are we done now?' I ask him. Neither of us are budging, we are stuck together.
'Sure' he sighs running his hands down his face. 'I'm sorry I put you in this mess. It's my fault'
'I know' I smirk at him making light if the conversation.
'Come here' I step over to him and he opens his arms, pulling me in for a hug.
'Your little girlfriend will get jealous' I laugh but i hug him back and i knew i made the right call. It was too late to back out now.
'She isn't my girlfriend. Sam doesn't date remember?' I laugh again and then pull back reluctantly.
'I gotta go' I tell him. He nods and I walk out the door and out of the club.
'I'll meet you at home' Brandi tells me as she twirls her new hair around her finger.
'Want anything from the stores?' I question. She shakes her head and I leave.
I'm aware of Sam following me to the store but I pretend I don't see him.
Stupid biker boys thinking I need a body guard. He was probably right but I didnt like to feel helpless.
I go in and get a shopping cart and start the grocery shop.
I'm glad Sam doesn't follow me into the store but when I see Travis, I kind of wish he did.
'Hey Scarlet'
'Hey Travis' I fake a smile. I continue onward an he follows me around the store.
'Who was that guy from the club?' he asks me.
'Just a friend' i give no emotion to my words.
'Are you sure? Are you in trouble?' He sounded worried and it made me want to roll my eyes.
'Why? Because he's in a motorcycle club? No, I'm not in trouble, like I said, we are friends' the way i spoke told him to leave me alone
'Ok, well as long as you know what you're doing'
'Travis, I appreciate the concern but I am a grown woman who can take care of myself. Now if you'll excuse me, i need to go' and then I walk away.
I don't know what Travis' problem is but he has no right to care for me. I don't even know him that well.
I finish shopping and then pay for them before taking them out to the car and loading them in the trunk.
Sam helps me take them up to the apartment after he follows me home and I unload them.
'You weren't discreet you know' I tell him.
'I kind of figured' he says lowly.
'Are you going to be doing this every day?' I question
'Probably' he replies with a half shrug
'I don't need to be watched or looked after 24/7'
'Why is it always an argument with you?' Sam asks in frustration.
'Because you think of me of some damsel in distress who can't look after herself' I defend.
'I don't think that. I just want you and the baby safe'
'Then meet your deals, get them done and don't owe anyone anything and I won't be in danger' I tell him trying not to yell at him.
'You will always be in danger because I'm apart of this club and I apologise for not being smart back then, you wouldn't be caught up in my mess if i was'
'You think I don't know that? I know you're sorry and I know you mean it but i dont regret this baby' I tell him. 'I'm fine Sam, I can handle myself and our baby'
'No, you can't, I'm not risking anything' I sigh knowing its a losing battle and I nod before continuing to pack things away again in silence.
