Jimin knew his life sucked.

He knew it.

Of course he did. It's all he's ever known.

The emptiness. It wasn't even a curtain of black or darkness like one would have thought, it's just... empty. The absence of something important, severed off completely from his brain, unable to even comprehend what it would be like had he been born differently. Had he been born with sight.

He thought about colors a lot. What are they? He tried his best to imagine what they're like, but always ended up frustratingly in failure.

It's okay. He's used to it.

It's all he's ever known.

Sight had never been in Jimin's life, it didn't exist for him. He was born blind, and believed he would remain without sight for the rest of his life.

There was a time though, when he was younger and thought there was actually hope for him. Maybe, just maybe, if he could find his soulmate...

In the world Jimin lived in, everyone was born at first with some sort of disability. The disabilities you were born with ranged from very insignificant to life threatening, it mostly depended on luck. Some people were born with whole limbs missing, others with a mere paper cut. The disabilities weren't limited to physical, either. There could be mental ones, like people born with a severe depression.

However, despite the horror one may be born with, there is a hope for everyone. Once you find your soulmate, the one person you are destined to be with, your disability will disappear, completely healing, and the same goes for your soulmate.

Everyone had a soulmate. Everyone. That was never part of the problem. Instead, the problem was more finding your soulmate.

1 in 7 billion. It couldn't be that hard, could it?

For once the saying 'there are plenty of fish in the sea' didn't work.

Because, in fact, there's only one fish. One fish in the whole entire ocean.

Even though the chances seem slim, almost all people managed to find their soulmates before they turned 18 (it was destiny after all).

But once a person hit 18, they were deemed 'soulmateless'. Their soulmate was most likely dead or they would simply never find them.

Jimin, being born with the unfortunate disability of blindness, had been searching for his soulmate his whole life. He wanted this curse lifted from his eyes, and he would do anything to find his partner who would ultimately cure him.

His family had been supportive. They travelled a lot, hoping that maybe Jimin might bump into the right person. They searched for people with similar disabilities to his; soulmates often had connected or corresponding disabilities.

And then Jimin turned 18.

And nothing happened.

And then he turned 19....

Nothing happened.

Now he was 20. There was no one special in his life. He had cut ties with his family, moving to go to a blind university in Seoul and figured they'd be better off without the burden of taking care of him, who was hopeless.

He had never felt lonlier in his life. He did have a couple friends, like Taehyung and Jungkook, but he wasn't close enough to call them best friends, or even good friends. He figured they were only friends with him out of pity for his blindness. He had a guide person too, kind of like a care taker that helped him around campus and just life in general. He was super grumpy though.

His life was bland, to say the least. He didn't do much and his days were stuck in a seemingly never ending cycle that he couldn't escape from. Each day he woke up, got dressed, ate cereal for breakfast, went to class, went home, showered, and slept. The occassional dancing thrown in ever so often.

And that was the one shred of creativity Jimin held onto. Dance. Yes, he was blind. Laugh all you want. You don't have to see to be able to hear the music, feel it and move your body accordingly.

Jimin's heard of dancers before who could dance blindfolded, and he's basically constantly blindfolded all the time so what's the difference? He felt it, felt the music, felt the way his body twisted, felt the air around him, and that's all he needed.

Sure, he was never able to watch dance performances or other people dancing, but he didn't need that to do it himself, right?

His friend, Jungkook also danced, and they would frequently dance together. Jungkook would exclaim a lot how surprised he was at how good Jimin could dance. Jimin always figured he was just being nice.

No one could genuinely care about a hopeless, insignificant blind person like him, soulmateless and overly dependent. Jimin knew that cold truth a long time ago and had already accepted it. He just didn't know what was going to become of his useless life from now on.
