PROLOGUE

Unsteady breaths and the sounds of bulky shoes hitting the floor filled the girls ears are she ran through the building, a pistol in her hand as she checked her surroundings. The Avengers had currently been on a mission, that mission being locating a Hydra base and bringing it to the ground. Their new asset to the team was Luna Marie Rodriguez, a 22 year-old with a degree in psychology and powers powerful enough to bring down an empire. 

A man by the name of Tony Stark found her once she accidentally used her powers at her university, causing serious damage. Now she has been with the team for a year, considering them family as she helps them along side missions while they help her control her gifts. As of now, the girl found herself in a Hydra based operation. 

"How's it going guys?"She spoke with the earpiece as she turned the corner quickly and ran into trouble.

"Fuck." She muttered once she realized she had a few bullets left.

"Watch it!" Steve scowled into mic which caused her to roll her eyes.

She began fighting off the guards, using her last few bullets on two of them before running out. Letting out a groan she ran to the guy, hitting him on the head with the butt of the gun before punching him. She turned, noticing there were two left as she looked at her opponents. Luna ran to the one on her right, sending a side kick to his face which caused him to knock out. She turned, seeing that the last guy had a knife as she groaned.

"You can drop the butter knife." She teased before he charged at her. She grunted, the man knocking her straight onto the floor as she realized what an ugly ass bruise it would leave. She held her hand up to his head, her eyes glowing purple as the man knocked out seconds later. Ever since the damage she caused years back it made fear grow inside her, thinking if she used it too much the building would not only fall on top of her enemies but her friends as well.

"Gross." She hummed, the man she put to sleep ended up falling on top of her as she quickly threw him off of her. She stood up, seeing Natasha walk over to her and the pile of guys around her as a scream erupted seconds later.

"Luna, NO!" Nat screamed. She raised her eyebrow, wanting to turn around to see what the fellow assassin was screaming and running towards until a sharp pain took over Luna's back. She gasped, hearing a gun go off and a pain in her back as she felt two more get lodged in her. Luna fell, Nat not catching her body in time as her vision got blurry.

Before slipping into the darkness she noticed a man with a mask and a metal arm where his hand was holding a gun. 

"Steve get back up, Luna's hurt." Nat spoke quickly before shooting at the masked man. He quickly ran off, a bullet grazing his arm in the process as he was no where to be seen minutes later.

As much as Luna had hope she'd be okay, she didn't expect what was to come next.

She had no idea the damage would leave her unable to walk for a year.
