Chapter 1.2 The Truth

Kayaba Akihiko.. The one who started this game.. Now we'll finally know whats going to happen

"Some of you must have notice the disappearance of the Log Out button" He said while opening the menu and pointing his finger at the missing tab at the menu

"This isnt a bug. I repeat, this isnt a bug. It is a main function of the game"

"What!! I have a meeting after this!!" Someone shouted

"I havent finished my project at school yet!!!" Another one shouted

"Open your Inventory.. There is an item there. All of you use it" Kayaba Akihiko ordered us. Then we looked at our inventory and opened the new item we got. It was a mirror.

Suddenly everyone around me was filled with a blue light same as earlier then finally it also happend to me and Cloude

When the light cleared i looked again at the mirror. I saw my real face and not the face of my avatar

"Cloude! Cloude!" I shouted and looked at my side

"Im here Raven!" He answered back. But what I saw was somebody else. Unlike Cloude's avatar, the young teenage body, what I saw was a man at his mid-twenty's but wearing the same equipment.

"Cloude?! Is that really you Cloude?!!"

"Raven!! My partner is actually a highschooler!" I saw his face. It was full of shock

"Say that to yourself. I never thought my partner was actually a mid-twenty's guy" I said to him while making fun of him again

"Yeah Yeah. But anyways, how did we turn like this?" He really is clueless

"The nerve gear can see our entire head. And before we used the NerveGear we first touched every part of our body to do the main calibration" I explained to Cloude

"Oh yeah. I forgot about that"

"And now.. Some of you might try to find a way to log out. But I tell you right now, there is only one way to free from this game. And it is to complete the game"

I looked at Cloude and saw his worried face then he looked at me

"Hey Raven. Do you think he's telling the truth that finishing the game is the only way to be free from the game??" He worriedly asked me

"I think he is. No one would bead enough to lie about something like that"

I saw him look down then suddenly raises his head

"How about if we remove our NerveGear"

"That wont work.. Our bodies doesnt really move in the real world" I said bringing down his idea

"How about if someone in the real world removes it?" He said giving hope to his idea

"That might work.. I have a sister and she may notice if i dont come out of the room"

"You have a Sister!!" He shouted "*cough* *cough* Sorry about that.. I live alone so it wont be possible with me" He then looked down and worriedly frowned

After that we heard Kayaba Akihiko speak again

"If you think removing the NerveGear would work.. Sorry but doesn't. The moment someone tries to remove the NerveGear it automatically send an electrical wave frying your brain"

Cloude coudnt believe it so we consulted me.. As always..

"Its possible.. The NerveGear has enough power to do it"

"How about if we lose power?? What will happen?" He worriedly asked me

"The NerveGear has its own battery so it wont be a problem"

"Some in the real world tried removing even if they were given prior notice" Kayaba Akihiko suddenly said while showing us videos of news reports

"And now 1,500 are now lost forever" the continued

Everyone was speachless.. Everyone was afraid

Just before Kayaba disappears he said one final thought

"And now.. I wish you all the luck in finishing the game.." then he finally disappears

Everyone screamed.. Some were crying and some were losing control

But unlike them.. I remained calm.. I thought of the best plan in this situation. And now ask my partner to join me

I dragged Cloude oug of the crowed and asked him "Cloude we dont have much time.. We need to move to the next village before others clear out the fields"

But the answer I heared was not what I expected

"Im sorry Raven.. But I have other friends back there.. Unlike us their newbies and dont know what to do.. So ill join them and help them level up.." He said looking at me straight

Then I bowed my head and said this "Okay, if that your decision.. Bye"

"Wait Raven I wa--" I didnt hear what he last said.. I ran away and head towards the next village
