"Hi, omg it's nice to see you. It's been a very long time." hmm yes it's been a very long time since we saw each other to the extent that I don't even remember their names anymore. And oh by the way we are having a batch reunion with my grade school mates and everything is pretty casual.
"Hey there Jenny." And here comes Harry, the funniest and most talkative kid in our class back then. He's now a music teacher in one of the universities here in New York. "You okay?" I nodded my head. "Yeah I'm okay. Just resting my feet. My shoes are killing me." I giggled as he also chuckled.
"You never changed." I am not sure if that's a compliment or an assault so I replied... "Some things really do not change Harry." I smiled after.
"So how's your business going?"
"Good. I enjoy designing and creating clothes for everyone, and I'm gaining good." From the corner of the hall I saw William and Loren. They both waved at us. Loren excitedly walked towards me and threw me a very tight hug. "Damn girl you never looked so good." I tucked my hair behind my ear. "Thank you. So do you Loren."
"But you're the most beautiful thing God had ever created."
"I agree to that." William butted in and Harry winked. I'm about to say something but I'm interrupted by... Leah! My very best friend from the first grade until death do us part.
"Okay people listen up." She said thru the microphone. "Tonight is so special not because we reunited again, but because someone special has their birthday today."
Oh who might that be? I have no clue.
"That bitch in that satin dress with high ponytail sitting between Will and Harry..." OMG me?! Today's my birthday?! "Happy Birthday to you."
God I'm in awe. I totally forgot. People around started clapping and greeting me Happy Birthday. Leah then joined our table and nudged me.
"I was asking you this morning. You just told me 24th of July, nothing's especial. Did you really forget your birthday or is it because of–"
"Okay shut up. I totally forgot because I'm too busy." she just looked at me and shrugged her shoulders.
Actually 24th of July is not that special anymore and I kinda wanna forget it.
Damn! It's really weird when your birthday and anniversary are on the same date. No matter how hard you forget the latter, it still remains in your heart."How's your love life going Jennifer?" I swallowed a lump on my throat and looked at Leah. It's been almost 2 months and I admit that I haven't moved on yet. We didn't even reach our first ever anniversary.
"I'm enjoying my single life right now and you guys know it."
No. I'm still crying for him every single night. It really hurts.
"Really? I thought you're already married."
Leah then spat a laugh. "Trust me Loren, if that's gonna happen, the whole world will know."
I just rolled my eyes smirking at her.
"Perfect. I have a friend. He's single. I think you guys should know each other. Maybe you're meant to be." Harry suggested.
"That would be awesome!" I replied cheerfully though deep inside I don't know what to feel, I don't even know if I could fall in love again. "Good because I invited him over."
My eyes widened. This is not gonna be Match Made in Club because then, it's gonna be so awkward.
"Who is he?" I asked Harry. "You'll know when you guys meet. He's on his way so let's just wait for him to arrive." this is definitely so awkward and weird. They're trying to find me a guy.
"Are you ready for this?" Leah asked giggling. "I guess so. Maybe it could help me get over–"
"Gino!" I heard Harry yelled. "Guys he's here."
Leah and I looked at each other with big eyes and my heart started beating so fast. Why is this happening to me?!
"Jennifer this is the one I am talking about." I looked at him and yes, he is Gino Anthony Pesi, my ex boyfriend, the one who broke my heart, the one who said "It's over" and unfortunately the one that got away.
"Nice to meet you Gino." I faked a smile, he's just standing there looking at me intently. "Uh nice to um...meet you too Jennifer."
Why did you come back?!
