Chapter 34.
"I don't know how I feel about you traveling so far into your pregnancy." My mate breathed, watching me as I wobbled back and forth in our newly decorated room. I was packing in excitement, grabbing any dress I thought would be perfect. I hadn't gotten dressed up for anything before I was pregnant, so I didn't know what I was going to wear.
"I'm only seven months pregnant Lucian." I cackled, watching as his expression remained the same. "I promise I won't go crazy on the dance floor."
"I'm still worried about you going back to that pack," Lucian explained more. "You've been disowned from the pack. The only reason you're going back is for your parent's wedding. You can't expect the pack to be fine with your return."
"The doctor cleared me of my insanity." I crossed my arms over my chest. "I just needed to rest, rehabilitate, and get better. The pack will understand my circumstance."
"What about your magic?"
"It's only started to come back." I shrugged, my eyes narrowing at him. "I thought you would be happy for me that my parents want me to come home."
"They didn't want you to leave in the first place but you still left."
"That was a different time under different circumstances!" I snapped, my anger rising.
I took a breath, knowing fighting with him was not going to solve things. We hadn't argued in a very long time, so it felt weird that we were. I didn't like it, and I knew he didn't either. However, this was my family, and as much as he thought he was a part of them he wasn't. They were my parents and not his.
Lucian took a deep breath in, trying to compose himself. "All I'm saying is that I'm worried for your safety."
"Everyone who loves me will be there, and they won't let anything bad happen to me."
He knew at that moment that the argument was done. He couldn't say any more excuses, because I would be safe no matter what he thought. These people were not my pack, but they were a pack that I belonged to once. They didn't like me, I knew that and I would not pretend like they did. However, I would respect them as I hope they would respect me. I am, after all, a fully mated Luna. I deserve respect from anyone who even looks in my direction. That's just the way things are, and that's the way they'll have to be.
I had a feeling everyone I knew would be invited. My parents wouldn't let me feel alone with all the things that had happened. This wouldn't just be their wedding, but my homecoming. I would be able to see them again since the doctor cleared me, and that was what I wanted. I didn't want my child to grow up feeling that his or her grandparents didn't care about her. I was no longer thinking about my best interests, but the child's as well.
Lilura and Oliver called often, and I had a feeling it was because they both felt the need to protect me. I know Oliver did, but he knew he couldn't put me before his mate. They had left back to the pack with Kory and Rylan soon after I left. They seemed very happy, and I couldn't help but be excited for them. They both had such a difficult time at the beginning of their lives, they deserved this.
After many phone calls, I had gotten one from Lilura about a month ago. She had found her way back to her home village in India. She discovered that the village had burned down, and she could only assume her family was dead. It was only assumed that Ayana had something to do with it. She grieved to me about it for several days, calling me at every hour of the day. Sometimes she would wake me up in the middle of the night, he voice shaking and in tears. She felt like such an abomination for being a trickster witch. She continuously felt a dark pull to mess with people and hurt them. I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. All she wanted was peace.
