"What would you do, if mankind's destruction. Is also its savior?"
"What would I do..?"
As I lay down on the hard and cracked asphalt in the middle of the broken road. I remembered everything... How everything started... My wife... My baby girl...
My vision started to blur. The dark and gloomy sky above, a familiar sight. Countless skyscrapers corroding. My time has finally come...
The military have surrounded my cold bleeding body, their riffles aimed towards me. I can't move... All I want, is to keep my family safe...
This is my story, my curse, my abomination... This is how it all started...

| Parker
"Mr. Parker, the test is now over and the results came out." announced Dr. Ferell, his face suddenly changed into pity as he flips on the pages on his notes.
In a grim voice, he told me that it was confirmed, I have a stage 4 cancer. My body suddenly went into a cold chill. I couldn't speak for a split moment.
"I am very sorry, Mr. Parker" the doctor said gently, trying to sympathize and placed his hand on my shoulders. I turned and looked at him “How long will I still live?” I said, in a deep and low tone.
“Based on the test results, the mutated cells are spreading rapidly in your body and is circulating on your bloodstreams” he lets out a deep breath. “I’m afraid you only have a few weeks to live”
“This can’t be… I-I was just fine over these last months. I am fine” tears broke down below my eyes “Why me?” The doctor grabs a chair and sat down “This is indeed strange. A cancer doesn’t just show itself out of the blue, especially stage 4 cancers. You have a very unusual case of cancer; I have never seen this kind before… Go, go to your family”
The time suddenly felt slow as I walk out of the hospital. The sky is as gloomy as what I am feeling, the air, cold and dry. Winter is almost near, the leaves were crisp brown.
My name is Andrew A. Parker, 32 years old. I live at District 5, with my wife and my baby girl. We are a small, simple and happy family.
I drove home, thinking of what would happen to my family, my wife Rosa, and my little girl Kayle. I love them both so much, I don’t want to go away.
“I’m home”
I placed my black leather coat on the hangers beside the door, and Kayle ran down the stairs, wearing her pink socks “Papa’s here! Papa’s here!”
I hid my sadness and smiled at her “Hey, there you are!” I kneeled down and she gave me a big warm hug. “How’s my baby girl?” She tugged my shoulder; she hates it when I call her baby girl.
“Where’s mom, Kayle?” I asked her and Rosa replied from the kitchen. “Over here, honey!” I came over the kitchen and placed down a bag of groceries on the table.
“So, how’s work?” she asked brightly. I gave her a kiss and said that it was fine. I lied; I couldn’t say to her about my condition, I can’t find the courage, not now.
The three of us ate dinner, Kayle has been talking about what happened at her school and showed her [A+] marked quizzes at science. Kayle got her smartness from Rosa, who was a valedictorian and now, a college Professor.
I was unable to sleep that night, fearing that I may not wake up in the morning. I wish that all this, is just a dream, a stage 4 cancer that just appeared in a week. Ridiculous.
