Your POV:

It was late afternoon, and I was outside, enjoying the fresh air, while the circus packed up to leave to it's new location. This morning, I was introduced to most of Chester's pals and coworkers, but a few were too busy to have an interaction with. I'm sure I'll meet them all in time. After that, I was able to speak with the owner of the troupe about getting a job with them as Chester's assistant. Thankfully, he gladly accepted, especially after my help with performance yesterday, and apparently, someone had left recently too, so it all worked out.
Everything seemed to fall perfectly into place. It was unbelievable. Things are finally looking up for me. I'm going to have a life of my own without worry of being hurt by the people around me. Afterwards we celebrated, enjoying the rides and games again until Chester had to perform.
Again, he had me help as his partner for the act, since his other assistant was still under the weather. She's one of the few I haven't met yet, but I'm sure we'll get along. After all, we'll be working with each other now. Now that I knew what to expect for the show, it was easier to get through it, and I was notably better at following the motions of the marionette. Now, though, with the sky bruised pink and blue, it was time to get ready to leave.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. I wish I could at least keep busy by helping out, but Chess was against it on account of my ankle. I was walking with a limp all day, but had been playing it off so that he wouldn't worry. Well, after the main event, I couldn't hide it any longer. It had swollen up worse than before. I would've fought him on it if it didn't ache so much. The ice pack helps.
"Well, that's the last of it." I whirl my head around to view the jester as he walked towards me with his hands on his hips and a cheery smile on his lips. His face is now cleaned off of any makeup, and he was dressed in normal clothes: a short-sleeve, white button-up and black pants with bright blue suspenders to match his hair. It was a cute look on him. I was more used to the busy costumes he wore, but this seemed more fitting on him when he was without the makeup. "Ready to hit the road?"
I opened my mouth to say yes but hesitated. Mom, I still haven't told her where I've been, where I'm going. I haven't said goodbye to her. With an aching heart, I clutch my hands on my lap and stare down at them with a frown. She must be worried sick about me. Smile faltering, Chester crouches down beside me, tilting his head to get a look at my face. "What's wrong, Y/N? Aren't you excited?" I spare him a glance and sigh.
"Of course I am. It's just... It's my mom. I have to talk to her before we leave, Chess. I have to. She was the only good part of my life. I can't just leave without warning like this. It'll break her heart. I can't do that to her."
