" In the flesh. Now hurry I was followed. By wights I believe." Selene ushers is into the house. Millard grabs my hand comfortingly.
" Selene what's going on?" Claire questions.
" Shhh. Less talk now and more hiding. I'll explain when we aren't in grave danger." She turns into a cat and jumps into my arms.
' You're comfy.' Selene thinks and licks my hand. Suddenly, Jacob doubles over. Emma grabs him and holds Jacob steady.
" Jacob! What's wrong is it a hollowgast?" She questions. He nods. Selene mews. Then Bronwyn takes charge.
" Take Claire and Olive. Go hide in the basement with the others." She instructs me. I take hold of Olive's hand and take Claire's hand in my other. Selene sat wrapped around my neck as my extra fashion accessory.
" We'll stay up here." Emma says. She, Jacob, Bronwyn, Hugh and...
" Millard! No! Please come down here with me." I beg him. I step closer to the basement and nudge Claire down there who brings Olive down with her.
" Ember. I am vital in protecting my family. Protecting you. I wouldn't do this if I thought otherwise." He lifts my chin. " Stay strong my love." He kisses me like it was the last time he would. And it very well could be. Selene meows from the entrance of the basement and I look up from our embrace.
' I love you Ember.' He thinks and pushes me down, knowing I wouldn't have gone any other way.
I huddled between Horace and Fiona. Fiona was hugging me sympathetically as I quivered. Selene rubbed against my leg comfortingly. The sounds from above the basement were terrifying. Shouts and commands. The noise of the hideous hollowgast. But then it... there was nothing except...
Silence.
