Don't Get Too Close

There was a knock on the door.

Selene and I froze. There was another shout and since we were much closer to the scene I heard it nice and clear.

" Millard!" A girls voice cries. Most likely Emma since it was way too feminine to be Bronwyn's.

My eyes widen.

" Don't do it Ember." Selene whispers in my ear. I barely heard it. I felt faint and adrenaline rushed through my body. I let go of her hand and bolted out the door, slamming a hideous creature as it opened.

Quickly I closed it. But I wasn't quick enough to get away. The demon like thing grabbed me around my calf. A burning sensation spread through my leg. It felt so bad. Though the creatures breath was waayyy worse. I swear it killed my nose hairs permanently. Then I did an action that shocked me.

" Drop me." I said, looking into it's cold, dead eyes. The creature gazed back at my quivering self. God I felt helpless.

" Drop. Me." It shook its head, trying to clear my control from its mind. Surprisingly, the tentacle like tongue around my leg loosened enough that I wiggles free with little resistance.

" Stay." I ordered now having ill mind control over this beast. I saw out of the corner of my eye Jacob sneaking up on the hollow.

" Stay. Still." I started to feel weak. The pain in my calf felt worse and I had never done this on a hollow. I was tiring faster than if it were a Peculiar or human. I started losing control. Big. Mistake.

The hollow shook its head a second time. Successfully it had now lost my full control. I saw white as I heard it's inhumane shriek. Before I could react the hollowgast was lashing at me.

The candlestick was closest.

In a flash I had shoved the metal object through the demon creatures head. Breathing heavily, I ran to Millard.

Emma was dressing his wound. A deep looking gash was across his thigh. I sat down and held his hand. I was slowly regaining my strength.

" Ember... you shouldn't be here." He mumbled. I ignored his words and bent down. I kissed the invisible a second time in a mere few minutes. Despite the fact it felt like hours.

It was almost like I was falling for the teen all over again. I was more delighted when he kissed back. My long, red hair has created a canvas around the two of us, making it our little world for some bit.

He pulled away first this time.

" You've gone and gotten your dress filthy and you- GOD DAMMIT EMMA!!!" Millard winced as she was pouring an ointment on him.

I took a look at myself.  My shirt- clean a few moments before- was covered in hollowgast blood and my own sweat. My leg where the hollow had grabbed me wasn't so good looking either.

" That was... exhilarating." I breathed. I started to feel faint as my adrenaline slowed.

" Who turned out the lights?" I mumbled as the world spun around.

Next thing I knew I was on the floor.

Authors note: Welp- next chapter I'm gonna have people vote. I'm debating between having Millard and Ember with their own chapter again or having it about he other Peculiar a while Ember is healing. Your choice!
