Adrien awoke to the pungent smell of saltwater. He crinkled his nose as he adjusted his gaze; for some reason, the blonde had ended up inside of a boat's interior cabin. Sitting up, he lifted a hand to his forehead. "I don't understand. I barely remember what happened, or why I'm here," Adrien grumbled.

Just then, someone pounded on the door. "Your highness?" A feminine voice called out. "It's time for dinner."

Adrien shifted under the covers of his bed. He recognized the voice to be Natalie, his father's assistant. "Highness?" He whispered, unsure of why Natalie was using such pronouns.

And then it hit him.

"Marinette," his emerald orbs saddened. He had completely forgotten about their situation.

The blonde furrowed his brows. Adrien had yet to figure out what story they were in, but he was smart enough to know that the Prince and Princess don't typically start out together. The thought of not being able to confirm Marinette's safety churned in his stomach, making the teen feel queasy.

"Marinette!"

The young teen batted her eyes open and groggily looked around the room. Much to her shock, everything around her, minus the furniture, seemed to be floating. The blunette gasped, releasing a collection of bubbles from her lips.

"Marinette, what are you doing?"

Marinette cocked her head to look at the owner of the feminine voice. It was Alya— but something was off. The blunette's cerulean eyes studied her friend, and widened once they reached an unusual body part.

"Y-you have a tail?" She mumbled horsily, more bubbles escaping her from mouth.

"What are you, stupid?" Alya giggled, a concerned expression painting her face. "So do you," her voice trailed off.

Marinette immediately gazed down. And sure enough, a bright red tail lay spread across her coral bed. It moved like a snake on command; it flapped up and down, as if it was feeling the water's current. She blankly blinked, unable to process her new 'limb.'

She had a mermaid tail.

"Are you okay? Catfish caught your tongue?" Alya swam closer, using her orange tail to propel her forward.

"Hey! That's not funny," A sleek black Catfish snickered. He swam out from behind one of the many layers of coral. "I don't catch tongues."

"Oh Plagg, go run off. If my father sees you, he's going to have a fit." Alya crossed her arms.

Plagg tolled his eyes, glanced over at Marinette, then left the room.

Mari followed the aquatic creature with her eyes. The blunette wanted to follow the fish, but she fought the urge and directed her attention back towards Alya. "Uh, to answer your question, I'm just not feeling too well," Mari lied, trying to cover up her confusion. Truth be told, it wasn't a complete lie, but a lie nonetheless.
