"And I told her I loved her," Carlos said, finishing his story. He was pacing around his room.

"And what did she say?" Evie asked. She distractedly pet Dude, while sitting on Carlos's bed.

"She said, and I quote, 'I know'," Carlos's answered.

"Typical," Evie said. "But its a step in right direction. I had no idea your mother was sick."

"That's because I haven't told anyone, well besides Jane," Carlos blushed at the last statement. Evie have him a look. The look she always gave him when the fairy was brought up.

"What? When? You told her before me?"

"Sorry. It came up. We were just so busy catching up during our picnic, I said it before I even realized what I said."

Evils jaw dropped. "What did you just say?"

Carlos bit his lip. He had said too much. "Ugh, I said it before I realized what I said?"

"Before that."

"It just came out?"

"No. I'm talking about the sort about a picnic."

Carlos blushed. "Oh. That."

Even smirked. "Yeah. That."

"Oh that's nothing."

"Really? Because it sounds like something." Evie wiggled her eyebrows at him.

"Ugh! Stop that. It's so weird." Carlos groaned.

"Not until you tell me about your date with Jane."

"It wasn't a date," Carlos denied,blushing profusely.

Evie rolled her eyes. "Yeah right. You just happened to go on a picnic as friends?"

"Exactly. She said so herself we were only going as friends."

"Ugh, you two are so frustrating!" Evie groaned. "Just date already."

Carlos turned even redder. "W-w-why do you say that?" he stammered.

"It's so clear that you two like each other, but you're both two chicken to do anything about it!"

"That is so far from the truth. I-" Evie glared at him. He sighed. "I'm scared it will ruin our friendship and things will be awkward. Besides, I'd rather spend my time with my mother."

Evie ruffled his hair. "I get it. but you don't have to worry about things becoming awkward with Jane. They already are."

Evie laughed and Carlos rolled his eyes and blushed. the door opened and Jay walked into the room. He went to sit on his bed.

"Speaking of boys who don't act on their feelings, how was nursemaid duty, Jay?" Evie teased.

Jay rolled his eyes. "You're not funny."

Carlos chuckled. "I heard her parents came to visit her. So how was it meeting the in laws?"

Jay clenched his jaw. "Cut it off."

Evie smiled. "Come on Jay. Admit it. No matter what you say, you are not over her. otherwise, why would you agree to help take of her. It wasn't your responsibility. But you did it to spend time with her."

"Enough!" Jay yelled, punching his headboard, causing Evie and Carlos to jump. "Stop talking about it! It's over. It's done. Everything Audrey said was right. She's a princess and I'm never going to be a respectable gentleman. So just drop it, okay?"

Evie and Carlos stared wide eyed, shocked at Jay's outburst. Jay had enough of their silent stares and marched into the bathroom. "I'm gonna take a shower to cool down. Don't be here when I'm done."
