Last time on Evil Hearts.
Mother, Lonnie and I are back together, and there is nothing you can do or say to change my mind about how I feel about her," Chad said, defiantly.

"Chadworth, you don't want to do this," Cinderella hissed.

"I'm not a child mother. I am old enough to choose whomever I want to be with, and there is nothing you can do to stop me."

"We'll see about that," Cinderella said, walking over to the stage.

"Mother, what are you doing?" Chad asked, running after her.

"You don't want to listen to me? Fine."Cinderella grabbed the microphone of the stand. She looked directly at Chad. "Then this party is cancelled!"

"Cancelled?" Chad cried. "Mother, are you serious? This is my last party before I graduate."

"I stand by my decision," Cinderella huffed.

"Well, I dont," Henry said.

"What?"

"Cindy, let the boy date whoever he wants. He's old enough to make his own decisions."

"Thanks dad," Chad smiled.

Cinderella began crying. "Fine. I get it. Chad is practically an adult. He can do whatever he wants, doesn't matter what I say." she quickly ran inside. Chad ran inside after her.

Lonnie stood there, awkwardly, uncomfortable at what just had occurred. Henry placed a hand on her shoulder. "She'll come around. she's just emotional. you needn't worry." He gave her a kind smile and went inside.

Chad followed his mother into the kitchen. "Greta, please see that everything outside is attended to," Chad instructed. The cook nodded her head and left the two of them alone. Cinderella had her back to Chad.

"Leave me alone Chadworth," she sniffled.

"I cant. You're my mother."

"Oh so now it matters?"

"It's always mattered," Chad said, turning her around to face him. "I don't understand why you dislike Lonnie so much. She's an amazing girl and she makes me happy. Shouldn't that be enough?"

"Yes, I do suppose she does come from a very good family. Her parents are both war veterans and good folk," Cinderella agreed.

"Then what is the problem?" Chad asked, exasperated. "You seem to like Lonnie enough. I don't understand why you disapprove."

"It's not Lonnie I dislike," Cinderella answered honestly. "It's what she represents."

"What do you mean?"

"When I married your father, the world was a different place. Your father broke tradition by marrying a commoner like me. But you see, I never went to school or had any formal education at all. I became a wife and a mother, not that I regret that. But it wasn't really my choice now either."

"Mom, I had no idea."

"Of course not. I tried my best to hide my doubts and regrets from you and your father. Nowadays, people of royal blood can choose whether or not they want to rule. I think the hardest part is me realizing that you're not my little baby anymore."

"Well I have dated before, mother," Chad said cheekily.

Cinderella scoffed. "Chadworth I would hardly call what you did before 'dating'."

"Point taken."

"I guess I was so harsh on Lonnie the night you introduced us to her because I saw how genuinely in love you were. I wasn't ready to give up my baby just yet. But looking back now, I am ashamed at how I acted, and only hope that you can forgive me," Cinderella apologized.
