Chapter 10 Partner shuffle

Shinji was thinking as he touch his lips remembering the kiss that Zero two gave him and she told him that, he was her old darling, which made Shinji think a lot today.

Shinji:"I was the boy that made the promise..... Then why can't I remember her"

Later squad 13 was defending what appears to be a machine that extracts magma energy, they guarding if any Klaxosaurs came to attack. Shinji looks at Strelizia. Thinking about her made him felt embarrassed, it's normal to teenagers think about pretty girls and how they are very sweet. Then they detect Klaxosaurs coming. Everyone of the squad gets ready but Chlorophytum falls to her knees, Shinji goes to the fallen franxx.

Shinji:"Mitsuru, Ikuno! What is going on?!"

Ikuno:"It's Mitsuru he is unconscious!"  

Shinji holds the Franxx goes to plantation while, the rest of the squad defend the machine. Later Shinji is in the command room with Ikuno waiting results, Nana and Hachi come in.

Shinji:"So what happened?"

Nana:"It's just a fever, nothing to worry about"

They sigh in relief the rest of the squad comes in after they finish the mission on their on. After the meeting Hiro went to meet Zero two who was on the sidelines.

Hiro:"If something is worrying you can tell me like I said before?"

Zero two looks at him.

Zero two:"It's nothing Hiro, I'm just thinking"

Zero two walks away, Hiro was surprised because he called him by his nickname, not Darling. Later they go to bird cage, Zorome and Futoshi were passing the ball outside, Kokoro was in the greenhouse and Ichigo, Goro and Ikuno were reading. Shinji was with Toji and Kensuke.

Toji:"Shinji, you been silent lately?"

Shinji:"Huh?"

Kensuke:(Smiling)"Don't tell me your thinking about Zero two"

Shinji blushes.

Shinji:(Nervous)"N-No!"

Toji:"Your clearly into her, no wonder back home you use to attract the ladies even with you look like now. Your still getting good looking girl like nothing"

Kensuke:"Your more attracted to her then when you were with Rei"

Shinji gets surprised by his statement, he gets called and he leaves his friends, he arrives at the command room and everyone was there.

Nana:"I think it's time for a partner shuffle"

Everyone:"Partner shuffle?"

Nana:"We thought that we could us a change of swapping partner in the squad, so if anyone wants to change partners then raise your hand" 

Then two people raised their hands it was Zero two and Kokoro, Futoshi look at her and was shocked, even Hiro though he didn't have the same reaction as Futoshi who was sad.

Zero two:"I want my partner to be, Shinji"

Kokoro:"I want Mitsuru to be my partner"

Nana:"Code:002, you'll be code:000 partner for one day"

Zero two:'Dammit'

Later the boys except Mitsuru were trying to confer Futoshi and Shinji was by his side, he was giving him tissue.

Shinji:"Tell me, why are you so sad?"

Futoshi:"Pfffff! She broke our promise, that we made in the mission"
