Chapter 6

It was ten thirty, on the dot and my mother just finished curling my dark brown hair. Yes, my mother and sister ambushed me at nine this morning to get me ready for my date. Honestly, I really didn't want to play dress up, especially since I had no idea where we were heading but I couldn't stop my mother from taking over. Sighing, I finally got to my feet and walked over to the mirror. I could hear the men downstairs. William had arrived five minutes ago and was conversing with my father. Hopefully I won't go down and see them at each others throats.

"Stop worrying about the men, Hope." My mother reprimanded me. "Now take a look."

I was shoved up to the mirror, all the way, and I froze at the sight. My sister had chosen a denim skirt that went down to my knees and an off the shoulder white shirt with the cartoon 'Tweety' on it. My feet were shoved into white flip flops and with my brown hair curled and pulled back in a clip, I looked like an innocent girl. My eyes had light natural makeup on and my lips had a light shade of lip-gloss on. All in all, I looked stylish and casual at the same time.

"You look beautiful, my baby girl." My mother whispered into my ear, almost making me jump out of my own skin. I had completely forgotten she was even here with me.

"Thank you Mum." I smiled in the mirror at her.

"Let's go down then." She winked at me and then shooed June out ahead of us.

I waited a minute after my mother left the room and took another look at myself. I honestly didn't think I could look like this. Smiling at myself, I touched my cheek, just to assure me that it really was me standing there.

Taking in a deep breath, I finally turned my back to the mirror and left my room. I made my way downstairs as slowly as I could, fearful of what I'd find there. I was astonished to see my brothers and parents standing in the living room with William and looking very calm. My father grinned past Will at me, making William turn around to face me just as I reached the ground floor. He blinked at me for a minute before a full smile crossed his face and I felt momentarily blinded by the sight. Was this real?

"Hello Hope." Will said calmly but I could hear the slight hesitation behind his words.

"Hi..." I whispered shyly, not entirely sure why I felt so uncertain about this entire situation.

"Come on, let's hit the road." Will said and held out his hand for me to take.

I glanced at my parents and brothers and when they didn't pounce on him, a relieved sigh left my lips. I smiled and took hold of his rough hand before turning to the front door just as June came running down the stairs.

"Bye Hope!" I laughed lightly as June bounced up and down on the last step.

"Bye June and thanks for the help." I winked at her before finally stepping out of the house and closing the door behind us. I could practically hear my mother gushing about how handsome Will was and that he was the perfect person for me to settle down with.

Will and I walked towards his Jeep in utter silence until he opened the passenger side door for me and helped me into my seat. I finally took the time to take a good look at him. He was dressed in a button down shirt and a casual pair of jeans. I was slightly amazed at how gorgeous he looked today, especially with his hair sticking up in all directions.

"You look beautiful."

I didn't answer, I just openly stared at him. I honestly though it was just my mind playing tricks on me until I realized he was starting to look a little uncomfortable.
