Finally the day had come.
Hayden was going to be a big brother.
He had waited for this day for what had seemed his whole life. Ever since he had turned 3 he had asked his mom "can I have a little sister?"
He was going to be a big brother.
The little 5 year old jumped out of his bed and ran downstairs in his Toy Story pajamas and into his parents room, where his dad was snoring quietly in his bed. Hayden ran to his side and shook his dad as hard as he could, which wasn't very hard because he was five and his dad was 31.

"Daddy! Daddy! Wake up! Haylee's coming today!!!"

"Eh..? Wha..?"

"Cmon daddy, wAKE UP!!"

Hayden shook his dad until he sat up slowly and his fingers through his short dark brown hair. He blinked open his hazel eyes and looked down at his son. "Are you ready to lea- oh that's a stupid question. Cmon, let's get you ready."

Mr Johnson hauled himself out of bed and stumbled into his bathroom, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He quickly got changed and came out. He took his son by the hand and took him upstairs to his room.

"Alright. Let's get on your new shirt."

Mr Johnson showed Hayden a navy blue shirt that had the words "I'm a Big brother" on it. Hayden slipped off his Toy story shirt and his dad helped him slip on the new one.

"Alright. Let's put on the new shorts mommy got for you."

"No, I want Haylee to see my toy story ones."

"But Hayden, those are pajamas. You don't want to wear those. Mommy wouldn't-"

"Pleeease daddy???"

"Fine. But you're changing when we get home. Do you have your backpack?"

"Yep!"

Hayden held up a toy story backpack with coloring books and a snack in it for the hospital. "Can we go now?? I wanna see mommy and Haylee!"

His dad smiled. "Alright. Let's go." Mr Johnson led the way downstairs and grabbed a banana for each of them to eat in the car. The two got in the car and drove to the hospital, where Mrs Johnson and Haylee would be waiting. Hayden could hardly contain his excitement and jumped out of the car as soon as they got there, and booked it to the door. His dad had to take a breath after catching up to the boy and scolded him for running off.

"Mr Johnson?"

Hayden's dad looked up at the mention of his name, and saw a doctor standing about 10 feet away from them.

"Yes ma'am? Is my wife ok?"

"That's the problem sir.. you see, she.. she passed while delivering the baby.."
