Author's Note:

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,m,mmmmmmm - this is what my cat typed when she stepped on the keyboard haha.

But about the story...

First of all, this is my first Wattpad story and first fanfiction ever!  It's also the first book I actually think I'm going to finish!  So I'm sorry if you think it sucks so far! (I like exclamation points!)

Hopefully, It'll get better as it goes along.  I can't make any promises about that, but I can promise that it's going to get complicated.  A lot.  Probably.

But thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy :)

Liam's POV

My nose is on fire, I thought, wrinkling it up.  I'd been sitting in this room smelling things for two hours now.

It was kind of scary actually.  I felt like a was in solitary confinement in a windowless, white brick box. People in white lab coats would come in from one of the two gold doors on either side of the room and put more vials on the table in front of me so that I could smell them.  Then, I was supposed to set aside the ones I liked and put the ones that stunk back on their trays.  It was simple really but also kind of depressing after a while.

It'd be much more cheery if the rest of the boys were here, I thought.  All five of us had started out in a room together, but after Louis and Harry somehow caused a whole tray of vanilla scent to crash onto the floor, we'd been separated.

Thinking of Harry made me think about the prank we'd pulled on him on the way here.  He still hadn't gotten the pen off of him.  That had earned him many strange looks from the people working here and various questions that had made him blush as red as the pen's ink.  I chuckled to myself.

At that moment, another woman walked in.  Well a girl really.  She looked about my age with honey blond hair in a ponytail and bright red lipstick.  Her lapcoat was open to reveal a tight cocktail dress that matched her lips.  There were also a pair of glasses perched on her nose, framing big grey eyes.

"Here's your next tray, Mr. Payne," said said and handed me a silver tray with more vials.

"Thank you...Avalon," I replied looking at her nametag.  "And if you don't mind me asking, um why are you wearing a cocktail dress?"  I asked curiously.  I might as well be blunt, I thought.

"You can call me Ava," she said in her American accent as she smiled.  "And I'm going to a party after work; I figured I'd save myself the trouble of having to go back home to change" she winked.  "Plus, it gets me more here than I would have thought."  I raised my eyebrows at her and she laughed.

"Well, nice to meet you, Ava" I smiled.  "It's actually nice to talk to someone.  I feel like I'm slowly going crazy in here."

"Yeah, well, don't," she warned.  "At least not while I'm here.  I can't be held responsible for the insanity of a member of One Direction.  The fangirls would mob me!  So I'd better go."  She smirked at me one more time before she turned on her heel and heading out of the other gold door.

She was nice, I thought, but now it's time to get back to business.  I pride myself on being "Daddy Directioner."  I have to set a good example.

I picked up vial after vial after vial.  Vial rhymes with Niall.  Niall is a vile pile.  Ok that makes no sense.  Plus I love Niall.  I mean, how could you not love the guy.  Even the beer drinking incident this morning, he was still so sweet and cuddly, like a teddy bear.  Niall the teddy b...HEY, WAIT A MINUTE, THIS SMELLS LIKE DANIELLE!

My mental ramblings stopped as my nose took in a scent that was just like Danielle.  I closed my eyes and just breathed it in.  God, they'd gotten it perfect.  It smelt like she was right here in the room with me!  My body warmed just at the thought of her.  I opened my eyes and stared at the vial.  I couldn't wait to see her tonight, I thought, and a sly smile crept across my face.

I was seriously tempted to put it into the section where I kept all the good smelling vials, because seriously, it smelt the best to me.  But after realizing how much crap I would get from the boys and not to mention the world for picking such a girly scent, I slowly put it back onto the tray.  But not before taking another long whiff.

With my anticipation high for later on and my nose full of Danelle, I continued my search for some more manly smells.  Which to think of it, actually might have been a good idea, as it was going to be a cologne.  I don't think I want to smell as good as her.  I smiled happily to myself and kept working.

                                                                                       *     *     *

Finally, we were done.  We were stretching our legs in the lobby, as we waited for them to bring out final samples of our finished colognes.  They would work on packaging later on another day.

     Niall walked over to me.

"So, Liam," Niall said in his Irish accent, "what does your's smell like?"

"It's kind of autumn-ish I guess, when you put it all together.  Like cinnamon and leaves and stuff.  But what I really want right now is fresh air.  My nose burns," I admitted.

"Agreed,"  Harry said next to me as he nodded.

"So what does your's smell like, Niall?"  Zayn asked.  He came up behind Niall and rested his head on his shoulder.

"Uhh like chocolate.  I think it was mostly my stomach talking though," he said with a grin.

We all laughed as Niall suddenly sat down, causing Zayn to topple over him and onto the floor.  Which made Niall and Zayn laugh along with us.

"Well mine's is strong.  I'm not sure exactly what it is, I just know I'm going to smell sexy when I'm wearing it," Zayn said, winking at us all from the ground.  This made us laugh once again.

"My cologne is the best," Harry said simply.  "It smells like me."

"Wipe, that cheeky grin off your face; we all know mine's is the best," Louis teased.  "I figured, if I like the smell of the mountains and the beach, why not mix them.  And no one could persuade me otherwise.  Personally, I think it will be big.  Real big.  So big that no one will be able to handle it.  Especially you, Harry."  At some point during his speech, Louis had ended up standing on a chair, his hands sweeping around dramatically.  He blew a kiss to Harry, who giggled like a girl.  A moment later, seemingly in the blink of an eye, Harry was carrying Louis bridal style.  Niall was lying on the ground, he was laughing so hard.  I had to lean against the wall to keep myself upright.  Our laughs echoed down the empty hallway.

"Um, am I interrupting something?" a voice asked from across the room.  Oh, well I thought the hallway was empty.

It was Ava with our final colognes, and she still had the cheeky smirk on her face from before.

"Hi Ava," I called to her, and she waved to me.  A minute later, there was a thud as Harry dropped Louis.

"Hey!" Louis protested.  I laughed and so did Niall, but I was surprised to see that Harry and Zayn weren't.  They were both frozen and staring actually.  I looked curiously at what they were looking at.

     Ava.

     Hmmmm...

Hey quick author's end note.

Yes, I was trying to make a video diary reference with the "'Hey!' Louis protested"  Hopefully it wasn't too off target and actually made some sort of sense.  Hopefully.

Anyways, I hope you didn't hate it!  And maybe you actually enjoyed it?  I don't know why but thanks anyways! Love you for reading this, thanks again! :)
