Harry's POV
We headed into the dark apartment, flipping lights on as we went. The curiosity was killing me, but I couldn't think of a way to bring it up.
I headed to the couch and flipped on a football match. Louis sat down next to me. I kept eying him warily. Would he bring it up?
He sighed. "I can see you looking at me, Harry." He sounded so sad. It just broke my heart. Lou was supposed to always be happy; that was how this worked.
He gently took the remote out of hands and pressed mute. I turned to him expectantly, but he just stared down at his hands.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't wan-"
"No," he shook his head, cutting me off. He looked up at me, his eyes pitiful and pleading. "I want to tell you. I'm just a afraid of what you'll say..."
"It couldn't be that bad-" I began, but abruptly stopped at the dark look in his eyes.
Louis's POV
I had to tell him. Now. Before I lost the nerve again.
I'd been about to tell him a few days ago, but we'd been interrupted by the phone. And since Liam moved in with us later that day, I never got a chance to.
"I was still in high school," I said quietly. "And in my eyes, I was the biggest hot-shot around. My ego was through the roof."
"I hung out with this group of jerks. We were rude and bullies. We would dare each other to flirt with the 'ugliest' girls in class and then embarrass them in front of everyone." I winced at the thought of my former life. I could still imagine all my "friends," with their evil smiles and wicked glints in their eyes. I'd been just like that, hurting whoever I wanted. And I didn't care. Not one bit.
"Then,...Sabrina came. She was an exchange student from America. She was so fit, Harry," I said, looking up at him for the first time. "A complete and total babe. And her American accent just killed me...and everyone really. We all were dying to date her. And then she chose me." I remembered that day well...
I was staring at her, yet again, in the one class we shared. The teacher droned on and on about some useless information I'd never use, I thought.
As she turned to whisper to her friend, her eye caught mine.
She winked at me, and I felt my chest tighten. Damn, why did she have to be such a tease? (I was on the other end for once, and it sucked.)
The rest of the day continued without any other incident. But as I walked out to my car at the end of the day, there she was leaning against the hood.
Her dark bob hung short and straight down her neck. She was barefoot, with a white skirt and tank top. She looks like an angel, I thought. Even though an angel might not wear a super tight, super short, jean skirt or a super low tank top. She even wore a glittery pendant that slipped down into her cleavage.
I gulped.
"You like what you see?" she said coyly.
I strode over to her. She put a thin finger on my chest.
I shivered.
She sat there, looking so perfect and angelic, with her full lips looking utterly kissable...
I leaned in and kissed her roughly, need filling me. And to my surprise, she kissed me back. Hard. I moaned slightly into her mouth, and I felt it turn up at the corners. She shifted her body until it was completely up against mine. Without breaking the kiss, she jumped up and wrapped her legs around my torso. I easily caught her and held her there. I pushed her back up against the car. She bit my lip and grabbed my back tightly. I tightened my grip on her thighs.
When we came up for air, our lips swollen and hearts pounding, she winked at me again. "I like you Tomlinson."
"We started dating after that. Everyone was jealous, and I was on top of the world. But then she went home for winter break..."
"I stupidly set off the fire alarm on the last day before we were let off, and I was instructed to come for four days of detention during our week off. I was so mad. Until I found out who the overseeing teacher would be. Miss Darcy."
I took a deep breath. Harry was looking at me with an emotionless look on his face. It scared the hell out of me, but I had to get the words out.
"When I said that everyone had a crush on Sabrina, I mean mostly everyone. But everyone was in love with Miss Darcy. All straight guys, some girls, even some teachers. Sabrina was a fit girl but Miss Darcy was a woman. Everyone wanted her, and she was completely unattainable. That was what made her so desirable."
"On that first day, it was just me and her in the classroom. I spent more time ogling at her than doing any work at all. And then she came over to me while I was getting something out of my bag. I looked up and there she was. Her face was right next to mine, and her eyes were so blue, her wavy hair so golden as it hung down the sides of her face. I...I kissed her. And she kissed me back..."
"And went much farther than that... We did it right there on the desk. I came back the next three days, and we did it again and again and again. I didn't think of Sabrina. I didn't think of her once that entire week. I was so proud of myself then." I felt disgust build up inside of me. "I didn't care. She didn't even cross my mind! Not until she came back..."
"I didn't tell her. I pretended that nothing had happened. And she never suspected anything. I was thrilled. I thought I'd gotten away with something awesome, guilt-free. Then, the two of us were walking through the courtyard one day, and Miss Darcy came from the other direction. All of a sudden she jumped on top of Sabrina, tackling her to the ground. She was screaming, "He loves me more! Your Louis is actually my Louis! He f***** me over winter break!" She ripped at her hair and clawed her face. I attempted to pull them apart but ended up getting bitten in the process. Sabrina fought back but she was no match for the sudden rage Miss Darcy had. Some teachers eventually pulled them apart, and the police came to pick up Miss Darcy."
"As the wailing sirens came closer, Sabrina caught my eyes. Her shirt was ripped, her hair was a mess, her makeup was smeared by her streaming tears. But the worst part was the long line of blood dripping down her face. And then she mouthed, 'I'll get you for this.'" I shivered.
The apartment was completely silent.
"Miss Darcy was arrested and fired, for attacking her. Sabrina went back to America a couple days later. I never apologized to either of them. I wasn't really even fazed by it. No one suspected I'd done anything wrong so things just went back to normal. I was still a dick. It wasn't until after high school that I even felt guilty."
"But now I feel so guilty. More than you can comprehend. It will haunt me for the rest of my life."
"Why bring this up now, Louis," Harry asked. "Why not just let it stay hidden?"
"I saw Sabrina at the coffee shop the other day. She basically threatened me. Said that she was going to tell the world. The fans will hate me, the boys will hate me. Eleanor will hate me." I went white. "When we first got together, she asked me over and over if I'd ever cheated on anyone. I promised her I hadn't. She was cheated on real bad before, and it messed her up for a while. I lied to her, and she's going to find out, and what am I going to do..." I trailed off in horror.
Harry ran a hand through his hair. "I don't know, Lou," he said, shaking his head. "I don't know."
