“Kagome wait!’ [Name] called out as she caught the girls hand before she was able to leave the small shack they were all hiding in.
“I have to go and stand guard [Name]” Kagome sighed obviously not fond of the idea “Miroku, Sango, and Shippo are waiting for me; we need you to stay with Inuyasha. Don’t let him know you’re here to protect him, he hates feeling weak and vulnerable during the new moon.”
“I know but-“
“You’ll be fine” Kagome said, now sporting a smile “Maybe this’ll give you a chance to finally tell him how you feel!”
[Name]s’ face flared red as Kagome laughed lightly and slipped out the door.
“Glad you find it funny” the full demon muttered under her breath as she made her way to the wall across from Inuyasha and leaned against it.
“So you got stuck babysitting me heh?” Inuyasha grumbled, his brown eyes looking up to meet her [e/c] ones.
“Not babysit as much as protect” [Name] corrected, completely disregarding Kagomes’ words.
“I don’t need any protection!” Inuyasha growled as he stood to his feet, turning towards the door.
“Despite what you think yes you do” [Name] said calmly, grabbing his hand and attempting to prevent the blush that was threatening to color her face.
“I don’t need anyone’s protection” he growled again.
“Why is it so hard for you to let people care about you?!” [Name] snapped.
Inuyasha opened his mouth to retort but the shack was suddenly crushed to pieces. [Name] pushed the debris off of herself and Inuyasha before being picked up and tossed a few feet away through the air by the larger demon that was the source of the attack. Picking herself off the ground, [Name] saw the demon thrust its claws towards a barely standing Inuyasha.
“Damn it” she hissed, quickly throwing herself in front of Inuyasha to prevent the attack.
Miroku and Sango quickly appeared after the demon already had its claws lodged in [Name], they quickly did away with it causing [Name] to fall to the ground.
“Great” she muttered to herself “This is just great!”
“[Name]!” Inuyasha said in a panicked tone as he lifted her up “Why the hell did you do that?!”
“Because stupid I love you” the [h/c] haired demon confessed and then laughed lightly to herself “Apparently I was wrong….there is such a thing as too late.”
“It’s not too late, you’re not going to die!” Inuyasha declared.
“It’s okay really” [Name] said in hopes of reassuring him then turned her head to look at Kagome “Watch out for him okay, he leaves himself vulnerable to attacks and it’ll be the death of him.”
Even as she was dying she still took the time to tease him.
“[Name]” Shippo cried, as he watched the eyes of the woman dim
Everyone’s face dulled and became sorrowful as the newest member of their team died. Inuyasha held onto her corpse for a few more moments before placing her body gently on the ground and walking away.
