A gentle late spring breeze blew through the garden where the young pair sat in content silence; the sun was high in the sky shining comfortably through the clouds that covered it while birds flew through the air flapping about merrily. [Name] breathed a happy sigh, wishing silently to herself that things could stay like this; just she and Ciel. Clouds shifted in front of the sun, creating a dark overcast that resembled the gloomy path in which the young lady’s thoughts had taken.

[Name]?” Ciel said, pulling the [h/c] haired girl from her dismal thoughts.

“Yes Ciel?” she answered, directing her attention to him.

“Elizabeth wanted me to give this to you” he answered, pulling an envelope from his coat and handing it over to her.

Curiosity easily overwhelmed the young girl as she took the envelope from him, briefly admiring the beautiful and intricate design on its front before opening it; her expression darkening almost immediately upon seeing the contents of the envelope.  [E/C] eyes repeatedly read over the words that covered the parchment, hoping that Ciel failed to see the envious look that consumed her expression.

Dear Lady [First Name] [Last Name].

You are here by invited to the wedding of Ciel Phantomhive and Elizabeth Midford on 17 August at Phantomhive manor. Your attendance will be most appreciated.

Sincerely,

Ciel Phantomhive and Elizabeth Midford

[Name] placed the envelope and letter on the table carefully then forced herself to smile and look over at Ciel.

“Congratulations!” she lied “It’s nice to see that the two of you finally have a wedding date.”

“I can tell you’re not happy [Name] we’ve been friends since we were children” Ciel remarked, catching her bluff easily.

“Color me green with envy Ciel” [Name] laughed dryly “But there’s nothing that can be done about it.”

Another silence fell over them, this time pain and sadness hung in the air like a thick curtain as [Name] tried to hold back tears and Ciel remained unsure of what to say.
