Aivie

At school, Leo and I ignored each other completely.

I was okay with just ignoring him. But that meant I was totally lonely.

I made my way slowly through my classes.

At football practice I worked extra hard. During break, Coach called me over.

"What a good job you're doing. Keep this up." He said.

I nodded and looked at Leo. He was frowning. Probably because he wanted to hear that from coach. I mean coach is his dad.

I ran back on field, and twenty minutes later...

"Hey everybody come on over! I've got a newsie." Coach called.

We all ran over, shoving each other and flicking sweat at each other.

I looked at the newsie, and immediately saw handsome. Pure handsome.

"Hi I'm Troy Bent." He said. "I'm looking for a spot on the team."

I looked him up and down. Nice build.

Above is not what it sounds like. I'm not checking him out. Okay maybe I am a little but mostly I'm checking him to see if he has a football build.

Coach smiled. "What place do you play?"

"I play quarterback." Troy Bent says.

All the boys snort even me.

"I'm sorry Troy but we have the best quarterback in the whole state." Coach said.

"Thanks coach!" I said.

Troy turned at the sound of a girl voice.

I took off my helmet like the other boys had.

Troy's eyes went wide. His mouth fell open.

"Your the quarterback?!" He asked.

I smiled. "Yes I am. Nice to meet you, Bent. I'm Sand."

Troy raised an eyebrow at my name.

"Well actually my name is Aivie Sandil but everyone on the football team calls me Sand."

Troy let's out a little laugh.

"You can't have my spot. I'm the best quarterback around." I say.

Coach puts his hand on my shoulder.

"You can play front center." Coach says.

I get an idea. "How about we test him first?"
