Is it too late?

After Nate left to get Kellogg, he never came back. Not for a while at least

Again you where in your room with nothing to do

You thought about taking up a job, or head to Goodneighbor see what's going on, or just take the simple ones which is getting the fliers from the wall next to the guy with his bats

"Fuck it.." you said to yourself
You got dressed up
Pulling up black shorts and your v-neck black long sleeve shirt

You strapped on the holsters for your pistol and your dagger around your things

And to then finally feel complete you walked downstairs to grab your short hunting rifle, to then find out that it's not there

You looked everywhere but you just can't find it

Freaking out you started to move everything around in your room

You heard the door open

"NICK!" You yelled out from up stairs
nick turned to head to your room but you made it down first

"NICK I CANT FIND MY GUN!" You yelled out practically screaming in his face

"What gun doll?" He asked calmly

"MY GUN! MY MAIN ONE! I CANT FIND IT!" You said pulling nicks coat shaking him

"Woah.. ok! Easy! Is it this one?" Nick asked as he pulled out your gun but it was fixed and probably done

"I know you wanted the original writing.. but I thought it'd be better if it was carved professionally" he said handing you the gun

Your eyes started to water as you ran your fingers across the gun
On the gun had a big heart with an arrow across it and in the heart says your name and nicks

You smiled and hugged nick
"Thank you.." you hugged him tightly

He hugged back
"Anything for my doll" nick said as he stroked your hair

You kissed his cheek

You heard the door open behind you

Turning to face the door you see Nate

He's eyes dead tired
He looked like he saw a ghost, his skin turn form a tan lively color to pale white, you could tell something happened

You rushed to Nate's side to help him sit down

"My god Nate! You look like total shit! What happened?" You asked worried about him

"I.. I'm.. too late.." his voice, it sounded so dead you felt bad

"Too late? What you do mean by that?" Nick asked

You quickly pulled out a purified water from a box filled with food

Popping it open and hand it to Nate
Nate gladly grabbed it and gulped the water down

"Thank you (y/n), your a real sweetheart.." Nate said wiping the water off his mouth with his vault suit sleeve

"Now.. can you tell us what happened?" You asked as you sat on nicks desk in front of Nate

"Kellogg.. that fucking cereal box of a name handed Shaun to the institute, I was to late.. I lost shaun all over again" Nate said, his head hanged low

"Hey, chin up. I know the night just got darker, but it won't last forever" nick said to Nate

"Thanks nick.. i just.. I need to rest.. that's all.. I'll see you in the morning.." Nate spoke and made his way to the door before leaving
He glanced at you one last time and left without a word
