THE FOREST PRINCESS is loosely based on an old fairy tale from the Dolomites, a mountain range in the Northeast of Italy.
The original title is 'The Two Mothers'. The version I used was taken from a book published in 1913 under the title Dolomiten-Sagen (Legends of the Dolomites, collected by Karl-Felix Wolff).
Most characters of The Forest Princess have been changed, and the outcome and core message, as well as large parts of the narrative are new.
