During their first winter in the palace, Peregrin and Larimar had a lot to think about. They spoke with King Obsidian and Queen Ruby about the future of the kingdom and how they wanted to live together as a family.

Obsidian couldn't wait to step down from the throne and become a proper grandfather. Larimar accepted her job as the new Queen of Jasper, and Peregrin was offered a position as the minister of woodlands and forest gardens.

Tilia and Crystal became best friends. She loved being a princess. When she was twenty-one, she married Topaz, the Crown-Prince of Upala.

After her coronation, Queen Larimar promised to teach all the children of Jasper that watching every move of the royal children and copying their clothes and hairstyles was a great waste of their lives. Instead, they learned to watch the trees grow, the birds sing and the flowers blossom. They learned to grow forest gardens all over the kingdom.

The annual garden parties at the royal palace of Jasper were replaced by food and plant festivals. Everyone was invited to come and swap their seeds

Many people who had left the Kingdom of Upala when King Heliodor ruled with a frozen heart now returned to their homes. The king often visited his neighbour and colleague Queen Larimar of Jasper to take her advice.

Larimar never saw the black elder fairy again, but the smart box was always in her pocket. As a queen, she had difficult decisions to make nearly every day, and Aurea's gift turned out to be the most precious tool for a ruling monarch.

The young family lived happily in the Palace of Jasper. As royals, they had many promises to keep, but whenever they got some time off, they spent a lovely weekend in their cabin in the woods.
