"Is everything okay?" Landon asked hesitantly as Baylor marched up to him and Axel. "You bet your ass it is," she said hanging the duffle bag over Landon's shoulder. "Women throughout history have shown men time and time just what we are capable of. Exora and I are strong women and we'll show both of you up mark my words," she said pridefully crossing her arms. Axel raised his brows but paid no mind to her comments as he began speaking. "You girls get in the Jeep, Landon and I will be in the truck. Stay low so when they notice us they are more attracted to the truck," he said as he closed the tailgate to the truck. "Um why do we have to stay hidden in the Jeep?" Baylor asked gesturing between the both of us. "Evidently you and Landon can't be in the same car without you killing him and Exora hurt her ankle out there. You want to be the strong woman you claim to be, protect the injured and the young," Axel said gesturing between Asher and I. Baylor looked defeated but she nodded in a reluctant agreement.

I winced in pain as I tried to make it over to the car causing Axel to take notice as he moved towards me. He sighed as he hoisted me up so I didn't lose my balance. "We need to get you off that ankle," he said as he helped me into the backseat of the Jeep. "What else can go wrong?" he mumbled. "Is the Jeep secured to the truck?" I asked worriedly think I'm not about the possibility of us becoming unattached and derailing into a pack of hungry monsters. "The carjack is a little rusted, but it should be fine. I'll only accelerate dangerously if needed. I'll have Landon bring some food and water back here for you. I don't know how long we'll be on the road," I nodded nervously, slightly scared about something going wrong with this idea. "Alright," I said as Baylor got in on the other side.

"If you girls need us to stop just wave us down I'll see it in the review mirror. Make sure it's an emergency!" Axel called out from the truck as Landon rushed us a bag of provisions. "What a jerk," Baylor said with a roll of her eyes. Baylor glared at Landon as he handed her the bag. He muttered a rushed 'sorry again' before rushing to the truck. "Junior's got the right idea," Baylor said referring to Asher who was sound asleep as she laid back closing her eyes. I was a little too nervous to sleep so I dug through the bag trying to cure my hunger pangs.

It seemed like hours had gone by while I stayed sneaking peeks out the window at the horrors that lurked. None of us have had time to talk about what had happened all around us. Maybe we were just to terrified to acknowledge the crimson sky. I myself didn't even want to think about what I had witnessed. Asher was asleep between Baylor and I while I was staring ahead at the truck where our two saviors sat. We've definitely have our issues, but I sure am thankful for them. Now if we can just bridge this distance between our gender rivalry. One thing is for sure, this is going to be a very bumpy ride.

My eyes grew heavy as time went on. I can't help but wonder how Axel is still fine when I can't recall him even having a nap. The night sky had lost it's red tinge and it was replaced by a black empty void containing a pale yellow moon that looked over the population, a population of evil creatures and struggling humans. I laid my head back with a yawn and decided to get some well deserved sleep. The car was nearly a fridge so I cuddled Asher to me to keep him warm throughout the night. The last thing I saw was the shadows of monsters creeping in the dark, awaiting the next time they would get to feast on the flesh of humans.

My eyes fluttered open to expose the harsh sunlight to my teal pupils. I shut them again and furrowed my brows trying to adjust to the light.  Asher was squirming beside me and the putrid smell in the air told me what was wrong. The car was stopped in the middle of the road. I stretched my sore back and yawned. Looking around through the murky windows I tried to spot the brothers who weren't in the truck. I decided to shake Baylor awake who was sleeping peacefully beside me. "What's going on?" She groaned as she sat up. She winced as her hair got caught in the duct tape Axel used to cover the one of the windows that had shattered during our collision with a tree. "We' re stopped, Axel and Landon aren't in the truck," I said as I went through the duffle bag for a diaper. "Wait why are we stopped?" She asked. "I don't know," I said becoming a little worried. "They couldn't have just left us here right?" She asked to which I shook my head. "Of course not, they probably just had to go to the bathroom," I said as I laid Asher down for a diaper change. "I'm gonna go check it it out," she said upon opening the door. "Be careful," I said as I took off Asher's diaper.
