As the sun rose the following morning Eddie sat on a window seat in the apartment he shared with Jeff, he hadn't been able to sleep and instead of staying awake trying to sleep he had decided to try and be productive and write some lyrics- he hadn't made it very far, he had inspiration but he couldn't write what he felt, everything was too cliche and not meaningful enough. He sat and thought about Joanne, he thought about her gun and how she had aimed it at him believing he was an intruder, the thought of guns and the laws in America set something off inside him- it made him angry and irritated, lyrics began to flow and he found himself feeling satisfied,

"Never shot at a living thing,

Glorified version of a pellet gun..."

At least one good thing came out of the sleepless night, a potential song. A smile tugged at his lips as he finally felt a wave of sleep wash over him, so he wandered back to his room and collapsed into bed- for a few hours sleep before heading to practice. They were experimenting with different styles and sounds during their time off from touring, the Ten tour was set to continue and take them around the states and Canada and then jet them off to Europe, Eddie wondered if Joanne would like to go with them to the UK- surely she had some friends she'd like to see again, or maybe not. As he drifted to sleep he thought about how proud he was that Joanne was going to give therapy a try, he understood that it was a big deal to her and he was so grateful.

The shriek of her alarm woke Joanne from an unusually good sleep, she slapped the alarm as she rolled over- Shut the fuck up! I'm awake!- She grumbled with a yawn. Her sleep had been peaceful, she hadn't woken up sweating or crying, she hadn't seen anyone she loves die, she hadn't had her parents showing up trying to make her commit crimes with her. Instead she had been chatting with Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, they'd been sitting around in her Grandma's house, her Grandma had been baking cookies for them and then she had joined them- taking a seat on her rocking chair beside Joanne, they had held hands and chatted with the guys, after a while Joanne had been called into the kitchen by Christine- while Joanne washed up Christine stood in the doorway with a cup of hot tea,

"So then poppet, I like Eddie- at first I thought he was a bit homeless looking, you know with the long hair, although I thought they all looked a bit homeless-" Joanne had laughed as she put a pan back in its cupboard, "Do you like him?" She had asked with a wink, "Because I'm totally on board with that." Joanne turned to her while drying a glass,

"Of course I like him, Grandma! He's my friend!" Christine rolled her eyes,

"All I'm saying is that I see how he looks at you, he's much better than Theo - I'll be checking in for updates," Christine had replied, Joanne grinned and pulled her into a tight hug, "But I need to go now, bingo starts soon and we both know what Cynthia is like if I'm not there on time." The two laughed and Joanne watched as her Grandma grabbed her bag and made her way out of the house, "I love you Poppet!" She called, Joanne was just going to reply when her alarm had gone off.

She'd never dreamt about her grandma like this, they had always been nightmares but this dream was reassuring- like her grandma was talking to her.

She jumped in the shower and went about her business, peacefully reflecting on her dream she quietly hummed 'Here Comes the Sun' as she brushed her hair and threw some mascara on. Grabbing her badge and gun and tossing them into her bag she made her way outside, when she opened the door she was shocked to see Eddie sitting on the step holding two cups of coffee,

"Mornin'" He greeted her offering the coffee, "black americano right?" She nodded and grinned,

"Eddie, you're an angel- thank you, d'you want a lift to Potatohead? It's on the way for me." Eddie nodded and followed her to her car when she started the engine and the music began to play she snorted some of her coffee,
