Jazzlyne...

Jazzlyne...

Jazzlyne!*

"Jazzlyne Jasmine Jakiyah Jones!! Get your lazy ass up! It's 12:45 already!!" My mother's siren like voice woke me out of the deep slumber I was oh so blissfully enjoying. I groaned and squinted my eyes open. She was standing in front of me with a large pot I assumed was filled with water. My eyes popped open and I sat up.

"I'm up! Don't pour that on me!" I said frantically. She scrunched her face.

"Jazzy I love you but, you look hideous in the mornings. Get ready we got stuff to do." She said and left my room. I watched her walk out. I sat on my bed for about a minute without moving. I soon sighed and looked at my pillow which was currently wet with my drool.

"Ew ew eww!" I winced and wiped my cheek.

I made my way to the bathroom, trying my hardest to not look in my mirror. As I waited for my shower to get warm, I unconsciously looked in the mirror and I honestly got scared. My hair was sticking up on all ends, I had eye boogers and lines on my face. Gross.

Within 20 minutes I finished my hygiene and started to get dress. I just wore a blue tank top, faded jeans I cut into shorts, and my grey converse. I combed through my thick hair, breaking my comb in the process. I just threw it up into a messy bun and went downstairs. There was a smell in the air..and I liked it! I smelled apple pie. I followed my nose into the kitchen and saw that my mom was nicely dressed and was taking a freshly baked pie out of the oven.

"Uh mom?" She put the pie on the counter and looked up at me.

"Took you long enough! But guess what!" She said smiling.

"We're having pie for breakfast!?" I asked hopefully.

"..No. This pie is for our new neighbors!" She said happily. I raised a brow.

"Since when do we have neighbors? The Dixon house has been empty for 5 years now." I said taking the box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch from on top of the fridge.

"Since about a week ago. Haven't you seen the big sign outside that said 'Sold!' in bold red letters?"

"Uh no."

"I'm surprised. You're usually quick to notice anything red. But anyway, we have to visit them." She spoke while wrapping the cooling pie in aluminum foil. I swallowed a spoonful of cereal before speaking.

"For why? When we moved here nobody welcomed us."

"Well, when we moved here you were still a star in the sky so you wouldn't know who welcomed us. Now hurry up and eat so we can go over there." She spoke. I started eating slowly.

"Jazzlyne!" I laughed.

"Okayy." I said.

After I ate, I reluctantly went next door with my mom. The house was becoming groomed nicely. The dried grasses and weeds around the front yard were already picked out and by the looks of it, they were in the middle of painting. My mom held the pie while I rang the door bell. About 30 seconds later a voice came from inside.
