Percy's never acted like this before. Why doesn't he want to sing anyway? That's the only thing - other than dancing of course - that he won't participate in. I guess I could ask his mom, Sally, to see if I could help in any way.

I walked to the kitchen and saw Sally Jackson cleaning up after lunch. "Hey, Mrs. Jackson."

"Hello, Annabeth. Is Percy finished choosing?"

"Uh, no. Can you tell me when the last time Percy sang?"

"Hm, I think the last time was when he and his friend took place in a talent show."

"His friend?"

"Yes, she actually used to live next door. But sometime after the show, she and her dad moved away. The two of them went back to Australia."

"Percy's never mentioned attending a talent show. Why would he keep it a secret?"

"I think he's ashamed of what happened. You see, the two of them were fantastic singers, but whenever he had to sing by himself, he'd, uh, go belly up."

"I could sing with him."

"Annabeth, the only person he'd ever sing with is his friend, Melody."

Well, that won't help. She's on the other side of the globe. Now what?

"Why is Percy scared of singing anyway?"

His mom just shrugged, "He's never told me."

"Oh." I looked back towards his door and sighed. "He should at least choose. But anyway, I have to head back to camp."

"Bye, Annabeth."

I walked out the door and started on my way back to Camp Half Blood.

Strange... Percy's always told me things, so why would he hide this from me?
