Chapter 5 - Strawberry Bonding

"This is so relaxing," Nick whispered, breaking the silence.

"I'm just really interested by your hair sticking to my sides," Caleb told me, grinning.

I looked down into the water and noticed that my hair was floating on Caleb's sides, just like he said.

"Sorry," I mumbled taking my hair tie and tying my hair up.

"Nah it was okay," Caleb whispered.

"Your hair is pretty long," Piper said to me, even though she was looking at Caleb.

"It's cool," Caleb replied.

"I shouldn't have cut mine," Piper decided, sighing dramatically in dispair. Her hair was only about three or four inches shorter than mine so I didn't see the big deal.

"Shut up Piper you said that you wanted to chop it all off the other day," Adam interjected.

Piper splashed him. "No, you shut up."

"I'm still really impressed by your house, and your hot tub. Surprised you don't have a pool, though," Caleb teased, leaning closer to me.

"We're getting one built in this summer if that counts for anything," I replied, poking my tongue out.

He laughed. "It does. I'll make sure to be over everyday this summer, then."

I shook my head. "Not yet. What if my parents hate you?"

"Your dad didn't like me at first," Kayla said.

"He did like you!" I insisted.

"Even I think he didn't," Nick said.

"Well he likes you now so get over it."

Caleb laughed. "You guys are very special."

"In a good way, right?" Nick checked, chuckling.

Caleb nodded.

"What do you do for fun, Caleb?" Piper asked. I looked down at her and noticed that she was leaning on Caleb, her hand resting on his shoulder.

"I'm into BMX and motorcross and stuff, and I'm on the baseball team at school," he told her, his voice becoming a little bit deeper than it usually was.

"Cool! I'm on the volleyball team!" she said with enthusiasm.

He nodded.

Throughout the rest of the night, until about 9pm, we splashed around in the hot tub and spoke. I got to know a lot more about Caleb, but I could tell he probably liked Piper. I didn't really give him much attention. I didn't ignore him or anything but I didn't want to seem infatuated with him.

"We should probably dry off, it's quite late," Nick said.

I burst out laughing. "Nick, who even says quite late?"

"Shut up," he said, laughing along.

"Yeah, I agree. Are the towels out?" Kayla asked.

"Nope, hold on," I replied, getting out of the hot tub, shivering from the change of temperature. The hot tub was so warm and nice, but it was a chilly night.

I stuck my head through the open sliding door and yelled out, "Mom, can you grab some towels?"

"Sure!" I heard her yell out.

"Six this time please!" I yelled again, because I knew my mom would bring 5 knowing it was just me and my close friends.

"Okay!"
