𝓉𝒽𝓇ℯℯ quiet knocks hit ophelia's door that night, she smiled sweetly.
"'tis some visitor,'" she whispered, "'tapping at my chamber door - only this and nothing more.'" she grinned delightfully at neil. he stifled a chuckle as he silently took her hand and guided her down the hall.
"what was that?" he asked, referring to the quote she had recited.
"edgar allan poe, the raven," she murmured. still seeing the confused look on his face, she gasped. neil covered her mouth with his hand and pulled her close to him as the school dog barked.
at this point, they had reached a window where moonlight was streaming in onto their faces. one of the boys dropped the treats for the dog, and todd looked up. he then saw the image of neil holding ophelia to him.
"you don't know edgar allen poe?" she asked, slowly pulling away from him. neil quietly shook his head, not tearing his eyes away from her as they moved beneath the moonlight. "how can you be running the dead poets society, when you don't know any poetry?"
"i know some," he defended, as he opened the door for her as they headed out.
"the raven is one of the most famous poems to date. followed by o captain! my captain! the road not taken, and shakespeare's sonnets, especially eighteen," she started to list off more, but neil stopped her. they had just reached the outside air.
"sonnet eighteen?" he asked.
"oh my god, 'shall i compare thee to a summer's day?'" she recited. neil nodded, recognizing the familiar words. "i can't deal with you right now," slowed her jog to meet the pace of todd's.
he was clearly already tired of running, the cold air didn't agree with his lungs.
"hi," he panted slightly.
"hey!" ophelia greeted cheerfully. as stated before, she loved to run. she loved the feeling of the cold air against her cheeks as she flew past it. "are you okay? you seem kind of, flushed."
"i'm not really that into running," todd huffed, still trying to keep up.
"then stop," she said, as she did so. she then started to walk at her normal pace. todd then joined her, happy that she wanted to walk with him.
"what happened with you and neil?" he asked, trying to sound casual. ophelia caught the hint of delight.
"oh, he didn't know any poetry, so i got annoyed," she smiled at todd. "he seriously didn't know anything!"
"i don't know any either," todd mumbled, slightly embarrassed.
"well you aren't running the dead poet's, and he is," ophelia sighed, "it's kind of ironic."
"why don't you run it? you seem to know your poetry," he commented.
"yea, like a bunch of guys are going to listen to a girl about poetry," she laughed agitatedly.
"i would listen to you," todd mumbled.
"thank you," ophelia stopped, beamed at the boy. he stopped as well and smiled back at her.
